Ever paid for someone else's shopping?

Had a street chap ask once in WHSmiths if I could "lend" him the price of the day's newspaper.  As I was getting the money out I asked if there was a good article in it or something and he said no, it had a coupon to get a sandwich from Gregg's.  He looked like, perhaps, Gregg's might not appreciate him in their shop so I said for him to grab a paper for me too as it seemed a good deal.  I paid for both and we walked along to the nearest Greggs together and made sure he was with me when he got his sandwich.  Gave him mine too to save for later or to pass along to a friend.
