Conveyancing timelines

I know this is a bit 'how long is a piece of string' but I wondered if anyone currently going through the house-buying process can shed any light on how long the conveyancing process is taking at the moment.
Our mortgage has been approved, and we're happy with our survey. The searches are back with the solicitors.
However for one reason or another, the contract papers from our seller got lost in transit between the solicitors — but ours should be receiving them today. We're buying a freehold property, the seller is buying a chain-free property and apparently that sale is well advanced.
Is there any way, in your opinion, this can go through in eight weeks? What, at this point, could still cause a major hold-up in the process? Thanks for all your help!

We are chain free and have bought a chain free property, from our offer being accepted to exchanging contracts it took 46 days. I think we were lucky in that both solicitors were really on the ball about getting everything done. We are completing on Friday so start to finish it will have been 67 days, so just over 9 weeks for everything to go through.
The biggest hold up we had was getting back the Local Authority searches back from the Council which took 3 weeks0 -
It all depends on the type and number of enquiries that need raising.0

19 weeks and counting for a chain free house and we’re also chain free... definitely will not be using these solicitors again
oh and still haven’t got a complete date0 -
Chain free FTB here.. from 10th March Offer accepted. 24th May completion is due. We didn't instruct solicitors until we got the mortgage offer confirmed would that took longer than it should have. Took 1 month for all our searches to be returned!
If all your searches are back then its just enquiries now, our enquiries took a week because we had 1 minor thing to confirm between us and the seller. Unless there's something major - this won't take too long I wouldn't have thought (first time moving house though and not much knowledge, just going by my experience)
