Double Booking and disappearing payment

Last week I made a booking for a small family reunion. I then received an email telling me that the property had been accidentally double booked, and that I would need to look elsewhere. Is there a breach of contract here? Certainly offer and acceptance and my money taken.
Which brings me to my next point. Full payment was taken to make the reservation. I have now been told it could take up to 30 days to refund the sum. This has left me in a difficult position trying to fund different accommodation. Where do I stand?
