Cancelling energy switch

Hi, I recently signed up to lookaftermybills, and after they tried to switch me to a more expensive supplier which I have asked them to cancel, in future I will go back to doing it myself (wish I'd never bothered signing up to them but you live and learn!)
They seem to be doing everything they can to stop me leaving but after a week, they have finally agreed to cancel my switch but they have said it will take 10 days to cancel, this will take me past the first payment date for the new supplier which I am hoping will not be taken, but my real question is, can I start my own switch now or do I need to wait for confirmation that the current switch has been cancelled before I can switch? I've tried asking lookaftermybills but their customer service is awful and it takes a couple of days to get an answer out of them

Forget LAMB, don't rely on them to cancel the switch but beware of any exit fees from LAMB or the energy companies. Just tell your existing supplier and LAMB's proposed new supplier to block the switch. Then start comparing with Citizens Advice and 'Which? Switch'.2

Get in touch with your existing supplier and tell them you object to the switch. Simples?
Wait until you are sure it is cancelled.
Then compare through the CAB switch and the Switch with Which comparison sites for a full view of suppliers.
And input actual kWh per year. Not any rooms or DD payments to get an accurate quote? The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon1 -
Thanks, I've always done it myself in the past but after a couple of recommendations from colleagues, I decided to give LAMB a go, safe to say I'll no longer take advice from these colleagues!
as soon as I can get this cancelled, I'll go back to doing it myself0 -
My advice - do not leave it LAMB. Contact the new supplier but DO NOT cancel over the telephone. Email the new supplier and ask them to confirm in writing that the transfer has been cancelled. If you are already close to the actual date of transfer, then the switch may go through and your new supplier will have to transfer your supply back to your present supplier. The GOLDEN RULE is that if a cancellation request is posted/sent within the 14 day cooling off period, then the supplier has to cancel the transfer even if the email/letter is received after the cooling off period has ended.
You will be lucky to find a contract cheaper than you are on now as energy prices have increased over the last 12 months, and are increasing. It is perfectly legitimate under Ofgem rules for LAMB to claim that they are saving you money even when you end up paying more than you are doing today,
Finally, you cannot start another switch until the present transfer is cancelled. If you do, it will not go through. As you have been told, getting back to the status quo ante can take up to 10 days.1 -

They keep telling me they select the suppliers with the best customer service rather than the cheapest, but they need to sort out their own customer service1 -
they select the suppliers that give them the best commission - who do you think pays for their so-called free serviceNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers2

OP, I am glad you have seen the light (see what I did there?) and realised what a rip-off LAMB and its ilk really are. Everyone makes mistakes but not everyone admits them in order to help others. Apparently MSE now offer something similar for free but personally, the time I allow anyone else to make any financial decision for me will be when I am in my dotage, which I do not look to see.0
