O/S Daily Tuesday 18 May 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but very overcast and cloudy - looks like rain any moment - which is forecast. Air is cool too.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and I'm enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was scampi, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had baked fish and veg. Tonight will be LO's from the roast.
Yesterday work was busy as expected and today will be the same.I think.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thinking of you as always Gers.
Nice and bright this morning again, washing on the line, just hope it stays fine all day. I had to water the new plants and the pots yesterday as it's been fairly dry for a couple of days now.
I went swimming last night which I enjoyed although it was fairly busy but at least everyone stuck to their own lane. I was quite tired last night and slept fairly well and woke up just before the alarm.
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX13 -
Morning all
Quick post from me as I'm on DGS duty today so will be setting off to their house soon. Have made sandwiches for lunch and DH will follow on once he's done a few things at home. Hoping to go out if the weather isn't too bad so fingers crossed.
Shepherd's pie was made yesterday so will just need popping in the oven once I get back.
Have a good day everyone.14 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It must be wrong - no rain is forecast for today!! I'll believe it if it happens as there are ominous looking clouds around.
The weeding never got beyond the thinking stage yesterday. Two phone calls from friends delayed my start and after the two long conversations the rain was back. So that's now planned for this morning's job. At least when the ground is saturated the weeds pull out a bit easier!!
Have a good day folks if you can and I hope GERS had a better night last night. ((HUGS)) for all our other poorlies and poorly loved ones. Take care one and all stay safe xx

Morning! It's not sunny, but it's not raining either. We had a spectacular amount of rain and hailstorms yesterday, I video'd a bit of it to show my sister. She's having problems with her kitchen roof leaking, I'm just glad I found and rectified ours otherwise we'd have been flooded yesterday. Plumber man didn't come round, job overran apparently, so he'll be coming today. I won't hold my breath in case. Compost done , plant planted, version of cassoulet made, no cooking for me today, yippy skippy, and domestic chores done.Today I have not a lot, paper shuffling the stack of stuff to go through, you know the drill, keep, marry, kill...or whatever it is when applied to paperwork obviously. I've got some seeds to scatter about today, I can't bring myself to bin them but the germination prospect is iffy. If I just throw them will nilly something may take. I also have to look up pruning olive trees, I got two baby lollipop type things but they've gone crazy crazy in the front garden, they must like horrible weather...And there's Italian to learn and snce I found my big crochet hook, I might get back on the crochet wagon...That's it really, nothing much going on.Happy birthday to your son AOD..nanny, they might be, feeling dizzy and sick comes with ear problems, especially if it affects balance.Glad he's better though, cleaning up vomit is not one of my favourites...Ruby, it's kind of ironic isn't it/ Wehave to take these tablets to stave off poo and end up getting poo in return. By teh sounds of it, this is a common problem with these tablets. there was much talk of 'being able to tolerate the side effects' last time I had to chat about it. Hope they were the right ones. dp1, your gd sounds funny...made me laugh...Gers, hope you and your mum had a better night. Well, you all know the drill by now, stay safe, dry and cautiously optimistic...:)Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need especially Gers.
We need to move today and I think it's going to rain, it was sunny earlier but Steve didn't want to get up then.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all, it's overcast and dry but we're due thunderstorms later.I did get out in the garden yesterday and only fell over once as I got my foot stuck between the spade and a shrub, still no idea how I got myself into that mess
. My derriere took the brunt so no damage done as there's plenty of padding there. I managed to fill 2 green waste bins ready for collection next week though.
Mr Fix It took a turn for the worse yesterday afternoon so cue a phone consult with his GP. He has gone this morning to have bloods done for oncology and also the GP but he's physically unable to drive so my Dad has taken him. Then he's back over the surgery tomorrow 9am for a face to face with the GP and then we have to get to our jab centre straight after but DD will be chauffeuring us, bless her she's taken a day off work to do that for us. It's made me realise how difficult transport can be from here when you are car-less and the buses only go up and down the valley. Depending on the GP leaving him a script today I will go to our pharmacy in the village to get it filled later, other than that my day is empty although I have promised Dad a cooked breakfast when he gets back.
Hope everyone can have a good day, especially Gers and Mum.Take care all and hugs all round.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
OK, I spoke too soon...Hope they can give him something for it nanny...

Good morning, the sun is out and the sky is blue for a nice change! I have jobs to do, indoors and outside.
Nanny, hope Mr fixit feels better soon and Gers, thinking of you.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here but more rain due later we will need to grow gills soon as we have had so much rain !
DD gone off to a meeting and OH still in bed he is off work with his back again so will be getting under my feet later I am sure
DW needs emptying and a quick sweep through and then I will get the dogs to the park.
I went to the chemist yesterday and yup wrong tabletsso I refused the prescription and then spent a frustrating 1/2 hr going between the chemist and surgery, luckily they are next door to each other, there was a really helpful lady in the chemist who tried to get hold of the right tablets for me and phoned 5 different places to no avail, so I came home and started phoning round myself eventually tracked what I hope it the right ones down, I then had to phone the dr to get another prescription sent to the new chemist so I shall go and pick them up today and fingers crossed they are the right ones, they will only give a script for two months worth though, I asked for six months worth as I have to be on it for five years but they can only do two months at a time which seems daft to me but hey what do I know !!
I might do a roast dinner tonight as I have a bit of lamb that needs using up will do a low fat version though with loads of veg, I am managing to lose a bit of weight and want to keep it off. Taff well done on your weight loss !!
Nan I hope Mr Fix it feels better soon xx
I hope Gers and mum had a good night xx
Have good days all xx13 -
Morning, hugs if you need one, especially Gers and her Mum.
A bright start, although the forecast is for rain later. I did manage to get some thick clothing almost dry on the line yesterday before it did not stop to rain; as we sat eating our lunch the rain was jumping up as it hit the shed roof. It stopped after an hour or so and we had a nice evening.
Last nights supper was a winner, I made the best mac and cheese I have done for ages.........I have no idea why but several times I have made it and the sauce was either too thick or two thin. Did not do anything different yesterday but it was very good. Finished up some little salad spuds with a green salad. The bread and butter pudding worked out well too. We will finish that off tonight. We have finished off the white loaf that was in the tea box we got last week. We usually eat wholemeal bread, the white loaf was just like eating nothing.
Off to the garden centre this morning, I need more Scottish pebble for the fountain and we need gravel to fill the channel we have cut out between the grass and the main paths. If the cafe is open we just might have a toasted tea cake and a coffee.
Supper tonight will be mince and dough balls with veg, we will finish off the B & B pudding.10
