Urgent help regarding CIFAS
Comments
-
Very true - but another lesson might be - if you're planning on getting into the financial industry after the CIFAS marker has been removed - don't be tempted to fudge your way out of it today, as being less than honest trying to get the CIFAS marker removed won't put you in good stead for a future in this field. You might have to get into a parallel field of interest in the short term before you can move over, where a CIFAS doesn't matter.NewLeaf1986 said:A lesson learned.2 -
100% agree.NewLeaf1986 said:This is a sad and infuriating situation to find yourself in, however you have been complicit in the actions that took place.
It was a breach of the terms and conditions you agreed with the bank for you to give a third party full access to your bank account without formally adding them as a joint account holder.
This in and of itself constitutes a misuse of facility, notwithstanding the transactions which took place on the account.
On the basis alone that you gave a third party full use of your debit card and account without gaining authorisation from the bank to do so, you qualify for the CIFAS marker they left on your history.
It will lapse six years after it was recorded.
A lesson learned.
OP, if you've told the bank you were letting someone else use your account you've just confirmed that they were correct in applying a CIFAS marker...
For the record, allowing someone else to use your account is almost always going to end badly. Bank accounts are not particularly difficult to open, nor do they have to cost anything so generally speaking, the only reason why someone would need to borrow your account is because they want to do something naughty, or they already have done something naughty and no-one will touch them with a bargepole.1
