Childcare Vouchers

Hi,
Hoping can help as I ant be the only one in this situation. I received childcare vouchers over the years and I built up a decent balance. However, since COVID-19, my Sons nursery stopped doing after school care and my Husband now works from home so he picks him up after school. I contacted Edenred and they said they could refund if my employer agreed and I understood that I would be taxed on them which was fine. Employer says that they are unable to refund and that I could use the vouchers for other clubs etc. I have checked locally and there is nothing that takes the vouchers so left with £1200 in vouchers with nothing to use them on.
Anyone else in this situation? Did you have joy in getting them back?
Surely COVID-19 is a good enough reason to get a refund.
I dont really want to just write off £1200 with nothing to show for it.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

"2. Can I get a refund for unused Childcare Vouchers?
Whether you can receive a salary alternative to vouchers you have accrued will depend on the conditions of the scheme determined by your employer in the agreement you signed up to. Please consult those conditions and discuss them with your employer if necessary. It is quite common that employers’ schemes do not allow for this.
However, as Childcare Vouchers can be used for out of school and holiday clubs for children up to the age of 15, you may well be able to get further use of any vouchers you have built up. "
You need to check what your employment contract says.
