Permission for a summerhouse?
Our house is one of a terrace with landlocked gardens at the rear. A next-door neighbour is planning to erect a summerhouse at the end of his garden. Are there specific rules regarding the height of a summerhouse and its distance from boundaries? I suspect that it will be used for as a bedroom for a child / children.
Could someone pse tell me:
Will this require planning permission?
If it is erected without necessary permission would the local authority demand that it be modified and/or removed?
Thanks in advance for comments

What stage are they at? Permitted development rights can be found on the planning portal but you'll need to know the height, size and position to assess that.IRememberItWell said:

If work has started without PP you can always ask planning enforcement to investigate.
If something is erected without PP then enforcement will make a decision as to what if anything the remedy might be.0 -
It would usually be considered/come under permitted development and there are guidelines as to the height and distance etc:

Most grateful for the prompt replies.
I've looked at the "planning portal" link as suggested by (ss2020jd).
The decking base of the proposed summerhouse is already in place and I notice the bullet point from the portal:
*No verandas, balconies or raised platforms (a platform must not exceed 0.3 metres in height)
However, a decking platform has already been erected and this is clearly higher than the stipulated .3 m.
I'll try to speak to our local planning people tomorrow. I guess the regulations are standard throughout England (?)
The house next door is rented out and it's the tenant who is proposing to have this summerhouse erected. I don't know whether permission has been sought from the landlord. In any event I guess that I should approach the landlord. If planning regulations are contravened, presumably responsibility will fall on the landlord and not the tenant.
Renewed thanks for the comments thus far and for any other pointers.

Define "summerhouse"... A B&Q garden shed with a window and a marketing department? Basically, a glorified timber wendyhouse?
Or something more substantial?0 -
OK - we will ask to see the plans. They say it's to be 'a summerhouse'.
It's certainly more than a tool shed.
Many thanks for your comment.

What is your actual problem with it also? Are you ready to fall out with the people next door who are renting so won't worry about neighbour disputesAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0

Garden rooms have become very popular.
I think it comes under permitted planning 🤔0 -
