Took a gamble, cancelled and rebooked...managed to get it a whole 4 hours earlier. Will just have to accept that I'm getting it when I'm getting it.

Many mass vaccination centres in England are taking walk ins this coming week for anyone seeking their second AZ jab, provided 8 weeks have elapsed since the first.

Here is a link to walk ins available in Hertfordshire for the coming week:

That’s interesting thanks for that, so I’ll just be able to show them my NHS app confirming I’ve had my first dose early March and be able to get it? I’ve not had a text message asking me to bring it forward even though I’m group 6 and had my first AZ 10 weeks ago.

Yes, you won’t even need to show your NHS app as it will all be on the system. I wouldn’t go in the last half hour of opening times, just in case they are reluctant to open a new vial for a walk in that could leave them with an unfinished vial. Those with appointments are likely to be given priority, so you could have a wait., but they should definitely agree to giving you a second jab with that gap.

I was in group 6 vaccinated mid march.
The GP Federation managing vaccines for my surgery haven't contacted anyone eligible to bring appointments forward or even put out any information recently.
So following advice from local CCG I booked online through the national service and had my second jab yesterday. Cancelled my pre existing appointment as well.
So instead of being vaccinated again at 11 weeks I was done again at just under 9.

For what it is worth, I was in the same boat (didn't want to play Russian Roulette in cancelling my second jab appointment without a guarantee of another/earlier slot and the helpline were unable to see what was available) but as luck would have it, my husband's second jab was already booked in for last Thursday at one of the local hubs so I rolled up in tandem and had no difficulty at all in being 'done' at the same time as him. I get the impression that, so long as supplies are available, the lovely vaccine staff will bend over backwards to accommodate everyone possible. I'd second the advice to roll up at one of your local hubs and chance your luck.

SWMBO got a text and email on Friday stating they'd cancelled her 2nd A-Z jab appointment for this coming Wednesday at Noon.  Thanks NHS central booking system!
    Re-booking got an appt....
On the same date, but at a different centre (which imo is less well organised, as I had mine there) and yes it is earlier (by one whole hour, only 'cos we chose to go earlier - noon was an option).

We could have done without the stress and hassle.
I suspect the site they cancelled her from may now be doing Pfizer only?
But if so, the cancellation text could have stated something like that.  NHS: Organisation and Brewery Celebrations come to mind!

Quite a few centres are moving to Pfizer, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if this is what has happened in your case.
This has all come about because of the current guidelines on not giving first vaccine AZ to anyone under 40. If it makes your life any easier, there are many mass vaccination centres that will give a second AZ vaccine on a walk in basis, without an appointment between now and Wednesday. So if it is more convenient you could try somewhere else anytime sooner.
For some centres, they have had to cancel 8 weeks of booked appointments since they were notified about 2 weeks ago, so I'm not surprised that some people have had late notice. I know it is not much excuse but the whole logistical operation has been put together at very short notice, and upsets like this have only added to the workload.
