Rental failed mandatory electrical test

My understanding is that the managing agency should provide me (the tenant) with a copy of the report  is this correct?

But they are keeping a low profile, I only learned about the failure when the electricians contacted me to arrange the remedial work. Usually the agents would also be in contact.

It's not as if this is a recent development, Noah would be proud of the two consumer boxes that need replacing, but I figured when I moved in 2-3 years ago, that seeing as the gas and the old bolier had passed a recent test the boxes would also be up to scratch. The agents manage the property - never seen the landlord - aren't they supposed to be
responsible for checking stuff like this? Or is this me being naive?

My main concern is that eventually I'll end up paying for the work through a rent increase (replacing the boxes in house and garage and fairly short suapended* connecting cable to the  garage). They've said it'll take most of a day.
What's a ball park figure for this?

Well, actually the cable isn't suspended from anything, it just loops across to the garage roof - so guess they'd have
to do that properly as well.

Yes that is correct, they should provide you with a copy of the report within 28 days of the test ( well it's the LL responsibility not the managing agency)

Forget what the cost of the work is, not your problem, the only thing that matters is what the market rent is and what you are paying. If they try and ask for a rent increase then you will have to make the decision, stay and pay, negotiate or walk. It really is not complicated the failure of the ECR is being sorted so not a lot else to worry about.

If it's just outdated CUs and a suspended cable, then it's unlikely to be a "fail". They're probably C3s on the report. Pass, but not up to latest standard. The standard was last updated a year ago...

What's your problem; they are fixing the issue? They will give you a new report after the works have been completed.
