O/S Daily Monday 17 May 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but very overcast and cloudy - looks like rain any moment - which is forecast. Air is cool too. Rain is forecast.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work. I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast lamb which was lovely and there's some LO's so will use that to make another meal. Tonight will be fish.
Yesterday we just did a few jobs ready for the coming work week and we spent some chill time.
Visited some of the oldies to make sure they're ok.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC.It's a grey morning here, it may brighten a bit. Yesterday when the sun shone it was warm, pity it didn't shine for longer. We had a quiet day yesterday, put clothes in the caravan, and did a bit of shopping - we are going away today and will be back on Friday. We aren't going far, just down to Barnard Castle, it'll be nice though. If the Bowes Museum is open we'll visit, haven't been there for years.Hope Gers and her Mum have had a quiet night, and thinking of others who are poorly.Take care folks.16

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another lovely start but of course more showers are forecast later. We escaped them yesterday until early evening which was a bit annoying as, on the strength of the poor forecast, I had adorned the upstairs with all the wet bedding!
Nothing on the agenda today, I won't be off out celebrating our first day of freedom! If the rain holds off I might get back to the weeding. I know how to live it up! And I should finally defrost the big upright now it's a bit warmer in the garage.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies and poorly loved ones. Take care one and all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning All
A bit grey this morning but as we had the most gloriously sunny day yesterday I'm not complaining. I spent all day in the garden, the digging was quite hard but I had lots of breaks as neighbour had given me a pile of magazines so I looked through those, I'll pass them on to another neighbour today.
Have a good break Scarlett, doesn't matter that it's not far from home, it's going away!
Hugs to those in need, hoping Gers and her DM had a peaceful night and the poorlies are feeling better.
It'll be another busy week at work, just need to get my head down and get on.
Take care. XX14 -
Morning folks.Wasn't a great night here. And the weather is so dismal it's almost still dark outside.DM's friend is coming round later to sit with her for a wee while. My friend Alan came round yesterday late morning with hot coffee and cake from the Italian deli so we sat and chatted for a couple of hours. My thoughts are with everyone. Happy Monday to all.13

Morning all after a very wet weekend DD2 and her hubby came down and stayed at the big house and we went over both days and sat in the gazebo thing in the garden with them but it rained off and on heavily both days still it was nice to see them and DD went for her massage and pedicure that were last years birthday treat. Nothing much to report we are just waiting till the 3rd to see what happens with the surveyor and buyer so i will just carry on as normal boxing bits up for the other house.
Scarlet have a good trip
Gers I hope you and mum had a good night and enjoy a peaceful day
Hugs to all the poorlies and those looking after them ,Have a good day stay safe xSlava Ukraini14 -
Morning everyone
It rained in the morning here yesterday but dried up in the afternoon and the sun peeped in and out - when it was out it was quite warm. My cardi was on and off all afternoon. I had a nice read of Sunday Times and then DD brought little one up and we built sandcastles. Well I built them, she admired them, then smashed them!
She must have been listening to Jack and the Beanstalk at nursery as she kept standing on top of her slide and shouting 'me is a giant up beanstalk.' I taught her Fee FI Fo Fum and ordered her the book now to add to our collection.
I don't start work till lunchtime today so am going to M and S for coffee this morning with mam and dad. Dad is excited as it'll be his first trip out for months - he's having cake to celebrate!
Well I'd better get some jobs done. Hope everyone has a good day.15 -
Morning, hugs if you need one. Sorry to hear you did not have such a good night Gers.
Overcast, laundry is in the washer, may have to dry it inside.
We had heavy rain before we went to bed, but its just very grey here this morning. Cleaner is due, so DB is doing his usual clear up, I do wish he would keep his bits tidy!!
Started the second quilt yesterday, not really happy, I think I need to alter the 1/4" to a scan, sqaures are coming out a bit small, not a lot but enough to cause problems resewing the blocks.
Mac and cheese with salad tonight, if its cold I will do a large jacket spud between us. Bread and butter pudding for dessert.

Have had my shower. I am going out to lunch today with a friend, open area of garden centre. I am cautious because of the new variant but it will be lovely to have a change of scene. need to get some energy to water my greenhouse tomatoes and put a load of washing on. I will have to wait until the painkillers kick in otherwise even those jobs are too much.
Gers hope all is peaceful with you12 -
Morning all; bit dull here today
Yesterday I met DD and her future MIL at a bridal place to look at wedding dresses for next year. Very good experience and one was chosen and part paid for. Then someone asked me what I was going to wear - much too soon to think about that!
Today it's meant to be dry this morning and wet in the afternoon so I'll hopefully be able to get out for a while. Have said I'll make a lemon cake so have to fit that in sometime.
All good wishes everywhere and have a super Startup Monday.14 -
Morning all.Birthday gathering went one, less one whose share was shared between the other three who'd paid. Which was a good thing as everyone chopped and changed their sandwiches. The weather was typical bank holiday weather, bouts of rain interspersed with very few bouts of sun, howling wind, the gazebo nearly flying away a couple of times and us having to stand at the four edges to push the water out where it was colllecting before it chucked on someone falling off. It was quite funny really, it was one of those british spirits will not let a little bit of a thunderstorm spoil the picnic outside...All of my goodies went, mostly filo pastry bits with a combination fo ingredients, salmon and cream cheese, mushroom and blue cheese, spinach and cream cheese and variations thereof...A bit of chicken left over, a few flatbreads, a bit of stolen salad and that was it for the rest of the day. Oh had the last of his banana cake and I resisted a scone. I'll still have to be extra good this week though.Someone is coming to look at the leaky kitchen taps tonight, I couldn't get under there to do it myself, most miff inducing, my shoulders will not cooperate.I took the cartridge out and gave it a clean again a while ago but no joy. And the hot tap has decided to join in too. Another load of washing, actually, it's two humungous jumpers which will take all the space so not too onerous a load. I really should stop throwing food on myself when I eat...
And a large cardboard box to break down, kitchen peelings ot put in the compost, geum to plant out and possibly take some tomatoes round someone who's going to me some lovage. Pottering day.
Gers, the coffee and cake sound lovely. I only recently realised the secret ingredient in a lot of the cakes is vanilla baking powder..Sorry you both had a rubbish night. Enjoy your trip Scarlet. NIce to see you AOD..Hope you're all prepared for the whole range of seasons weather we're having and stay dry and cosy....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13
