Did they nick that from this site? Back in the day when SCARPs had an article on MSE, we used to have frequent posts on how to build your own SCARP pre credit crunch. You haven't said what you mean by "up to your ears in other risky investments", but you could consider using some of this money to top up your pension.
The tax relief you will get from the government on putting money into your pension more than compensates you for the risk you might be taking.1 -

But then the article is 11 years old! Following this approach nowadays would mean a heck of a lot of cash tied up to support a tiny amount of equity investment...0
