I'm having a mighty good rest - hope everyone had a good weekend! Just me and my thoughts isolating for a few days and might as well come back with some actions for myself.

I am still in the middle of revisiting my budget but whilst I get over this little brain fog of mine - I managed to put in my extra shift pay to the two cards. Funny enough, I received a letter from my CC1 card provider this week and got an offer for a balance transfer for my current debts. My CC2 is already on 0%which I plan on paying in full before the contact ends on lesser transfer fee. So, I might hold off on that one. It's weird how suddenly options are available once one is on track with their spending and borrowing.

    Stay safe everyone

They always used to say that you only get given something when you don't need it!  So very true.

Right? Funny, my partner said the same thing today. He is against credit card or any form of lending (but to the extreme). I, for one, realised that it may just means that my numbers are simply reliable enough for banks/lenders. It is the system but I'm grateful to the many few on here who knows (and shares) how to utilise those privileges. I don't know why it took me long to really dig into those hacks and advices.

Almost done with isolation! It has been a no-spend week so far except for maybe two takeaway treats in between. I think it was foreshadowing that I got my groceries sorted before my lateral flow tested positive. Otherwise, already feeling better - thank heavens for the vaccine.

Little things from my end - I had a quick review of my budget so far as promised. Aside from my high-spends late last year (September-December), where most of the birthdays and anniversaries usually land, I don't think I have done anything major to skew it further. I did notice, however, that I may have just been less mindful of my "eating out" category and that includes takeaways so I made a mental month to keep an eye on that this month.

No further spends on CC1 this month! Not even for little spends.

I made a little blunder on my banking app this evening. A quick reminder to not sort out my finances at 23:00 but I just like the peacefulness of that time to sort things. Instead of making one overpayment to CC1 with the intention of paying CC2 some funds from my overtime shift, I ended up paying double on CC1 instead. It was a connectivity issue that charged me twice for some reason. I tried contacting the bank but told me to come back to them once the funds have cleared and they will sort it out. I do still have another extra shift fund coming in so I thought just leave it as it is and just make it up for the next one.

At the end of the day, it is still an overpayment and I'm not left short until the next payday.
Well not yet, but hopefully

Glad you are feeling better.  Well done on not spending on CC1 and the accidental overpayment!

Thank you, @jwil - aside from the little brain fog moment last night (which arguably has been my case for the past seven days), I think everything is back to normal.

    Little things from today:
    • Finally set up my LISA. I ended up going with Moneybox - the 0.85% deal today lured me in which is good. I'm only making the account until I decide which account to use for future property buys. I still have a HTB account that I'm planning to utilise once I put my debt in order.
    • During this set-up, I came across about different providers giving higher cash savings rates than my current one and it was something that got my interest. Not a big idea that I want to tackle now but something to think about in the next few months.
    • One streaming provider has been taken off the block. Another going end of this month (after I finish bingewatch a few shows).
    • Cashed £5 off Prolific and went into my "Me" fund - I've been slow on quizzes but it's a leap
Things to do this weekend: Think about how I'm going to sustain certain self-care spends for this year - travel, dentist and gym. More on this once I have a look on what I can afford but will have to start with some sort of sinking fund soon.

PS: Is it just me or do you guys often wonder what you'll do once your monthly payments goes to savings and not on debts? This is why I'm so excited to clear CC2 in June/July. I often daydream about the day. :star:

    Welcome! & thank you

Haha - it's always interesting to find traits of something in Astrology. My only problem is Virgos are usually financially-saving, I can only blame myself on that one, lol. I feel like the only time I found myself accountable was when I organised my finances (have to bear the shame in doing so) but I had to if I wanted change. Good luck to us!

I’m nervous about what I’ll do with any money that’s not spent on clearing debt in a few years time… will I really be able to pay for a holiday and not feel guilty it’s not been put into savings?!

I'm actually quite excited to have that freedom again. The money we can set aside for a rainy day, investment or even a treat. I hope we don't feel guilty for the spends though. We'll watch that space until we get there
