Looking on all the different suppliers websites it seems as if the options are dual fuel or electricity, therefore if you wanted to have 2 different suppliers would you have to sign up with the dual fuel with the gas tariff you want and switch electricity away to another company?

You have to select separate suppliers for gas & electric for what you want and do your own sums to see if it is cheaper, which it mostly is days, but if say the dual fuel gas tariff is cheaper than the single fuel options from that supplier that is tough luck, you can't have a dual fuel Gas tariff  for instance if only taking single

I suspect if you signed for dual & then switched one away you would be breaking the contract for dual fuel with subsequent penalties applied according to the T & Cs you agreed at the time

Zog were the cheapest, for gas only, when I signed up. However, wholesale prices have risen, somewhat, in the past six months.

You have to take the daily charge into account. If you are a heavy user, then a high DC will be of less importance, but if you are a low user, you need to look for a low DC as well as low kWh price.

I have recently switched from dual fuel with Scottish Power to individual fuels, electricity with Neon Reef and gas with SSE, so evidently it can be done.
