I'm acting on behalf of an elderly person who has been receiving WHD ongoing until this season when it was not paid. I contacted the supplier who asked for a copy of the letter from govt showing entitlement. The supplier paid it last season but not this season. I have seen the letters from govt in the past but cannot find the latest. I thought payments were automatic due to status (which has not changed). Thinking to write to the relevant govt dept asking for a copy of the letter and then send it to the supplier. Would this be the best immeidate action to take?

If they're part of the core group i.e.they receive pension credit then it is automatic bit depends on the DWP letting the supplier know. The core group payments have to be made by the end of the year so you might be a bit late querying it now.1

I qualify under the broader group but know I had to apply for it with my energy supplier for winter 20/21 year, even though I've qualified & payment received for it the past couple of years. I had to send an up to date copy of the disability benefits I receive so that they could confirm I still qualified & once I did this the money was credited to my account.
Did your friend not realise you do need to reapply to confirm she still qualifies? If not, remind her that once this coming winter approaches & the energy companies start taking applications for WHD 21/22 to make an application.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.1 -

That's a bit patronising: not all seniors are dim or have dementia !fifthofwhisky said:

If you are lucky enough to reach nearly 100 years old you will like some help, I'm sure.MWT said:

On the contrary, you're assuming that all seniors are stupid !fifthofwhisky said:

I'm in the senior age group and I do resent that comment. Especially as I'm a full time carer for someone who is half my age. Nobody looks out for me. I have to look out for myself and am thankful I have all my faculties but your sweeping statement assumes that we in the older age group are not capable, and that just is not true.fifthofwhisky said:

Thanks for your comments. I have relatives around 95 - 97 years of age. Classing all seniors in one group is a mistake. At that age, needs change. I'm speaking from experience. By the way, they have all their faculties.MalMonroe said:
