This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about
everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great,
inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old
Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.
Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check
the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style
natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Good morning all, it's a grey calm morning here..Nanny hope you've had a better night, I woke up several times but I always do, I've had worse nights though.TA, poor little Sparkle, poor you as well, she's costing you a bomb! What can you do though, it's part of having animals, got to look after them.Rosy, I know you've had a high level of restrictions all the way since last March, you must be fed up. This new Indian variant seems to be on the rise. My DD has an appt for her first jab on Wednesday, she was originally given an appt somewhere in Kendal, on the other side of the country, but managed to change it thank goodness. She now has one about 3 miles away.Ruby, hope your job is safe..Yesterday was an ok day, did a bit of shopping, but I'll shop for the caravan today, I don't need much. It's easier to shop for the van separately. We are only going to Barnard Castle anyway,, there are plenty of shops there.Hoping Gers and Mum have had a quiet night, and thinking of our orher poorly people.Take care folks.14

Morning everyone
Scarlett - thanks for starting us off x
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but cloudy and overcast - rain forecast.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar, will head to the shower shortly. DS1 in his pit. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken, chips and beans for the menfolk. I had fishcakes and salad. Tonight we'll be having all day breakfast - a breakfast for dinner.
I think we have a few things to do - this morning I'll have a look at my menu and see if there's anything I can organise and prep to make the week nights easier now my work is different.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks SCARLET for the new thread. It's dull here too with light rain forecast later. This miserable weather goes on and on.
GERS I hope all went well with the dental procedure yesterday. And I hope DM had a peaceful day too. ROSY we've been just like you over the last year with lockdowns and local restrictions. We had the same 3 week reprieve (early September) and it felt lovely to have a bit of freedom at last. My BF and I got the bus to Skipton, it was a lovely warm day and we sat at the top of Main Street where a little band was playing. We felt as though we were on holiday after being incarcerated so long! RUBY I hope your job stays safe for when you are ready to go back. BELLA you must feel like a Nomad going from home to home. I hope it all gets sorted soon. On a brighter note it was good to hear SNOOZER's STEVE is feeling much better.
SPARKLE too is on the mend, until next time!! Her poorly eye looks so much better and hopefuly her chin will follow suit shortly! I've told her she needs to find a job to subsidise these crippling vet bills!
I had a surprise visit from eldest DGD last night. She had been to pick up a bag of baby clothes from a neighbour, spotted on Freecycle. They are for her half brother. We went through the big bag of stuff and there were some lovely things. The lady had tried to sell them but had no takers and she just wanted rid of them. Good spot by DGD, we've brought her up well!!
This morning I am getting the bus along the valley bottom to the next little town for their small Saturday market. In particular the f & v stall that has lovely produce. Also need to get some bagels as not available on my delivery yesterday.
Gosh I have waffled on a bit so ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, worried and sad. Take care one and all xx

Morning All
Raining again, that fine rain that gets you very wet. I have a towel wash to go on but it will have to go on the pulley today. Got the housework done last night and cut the grass which looks a lot better apart from the bits I put weed killer on, I have little thitstles that are popping up all over the place.
I have the little one today for a couple of hours while DD has a much needed haircut, we'll have to walk in the rain today. Shopping first thing before they arrive, there's nothing for lunch and I fancy a Thai curry.
Hope your job is safe RR, such a worry on top of everything else.
Glad Sparkle is improving TA.
Hoping the house sale goes through Bella.
Thinking of Gers and her DM and those struggling, especially Marie and Nelski.
Happy Saturday, take care. XX13 -
Morning folks. It's dismal here again. To add to the dismalness Glasgow is remaining on level 3 restrictions for another week. The implant surgery went very well yesterday, thanks. The surgeon offered me the chance to have all three implants done in one visit, so two on one side and one on the other. I jumped at it rather than wait until July. Now I have stitches on both sides of my lower jaw though I feel fine. A couple of paracetamol last night was enough and today I have no real pain - touch wood! Stitches will be removed next Friday and then it's another wait until the autumn for the teeth to be put on.DM had a restless night, she pinged for me a few times but is fast asleep now. The first lot of carers will be here soon. Her friend will be coming round later this afternoon to sit with her for a while.I hope that others have good weather and that all our MIA's know that we're thinking about them.Happy Saturday to all.12

Morning all Rain here so looks like we will be sitting in the gazebo thing for xmas dinner later still the cold will make it feel more christmasy . Just a few bits left to take from the garage and that's that and the shed done next to start in the house still I have taken over quite a bit already . We have given the buyers till the 3rd June to sort this I have given all the paperwork i have to the estate agent and can do no more so we shall see if it doesn't work out we will go to plan B and rent it out most probably as paying for 2 properties is not very frugal I am just going with what will be will be and will worry about it on the 3rd .

Hi everyone,
I hope you had a peaceful night Grs and that any of the poorly people are as well as can be expected. Dumpling, have you managed to get out at all since your little walk.
I have had my second jab, had a slight temp but that might be from the cold I have picked up from Brian (who got it from Esben), it's a lot better today though. Esben has been having short sessions at nursery to acclimatise him again, apparently he has been quite upset going in. Brian has been taking him and has managed to lose his shoes, he had to go in wellies yesterday.
Steve has his treatment today and I need to go and buy some fruit and veg and a chicken for tomorrow night, Laura and Esben are coming up so that she can finish the top she started in Yorkshire and also do some studying. Now she's back at College her modules are intense and she's panicking a bit (nothing new there).14 -
Morning everyone
Just a quick visit as I have to spend today doing a First Aid course via Zoom - 9.30 till 4pm! We have to renew it every 3 years and there's still no face to face courses. So today and next Saturday - the sun is shining so that's a bit annoying. Hopefully I can get on to it ok!
Thanks for all good wishes for youngest DD. She has recovered well from her operation, but still has her ongoing problems for which she is still waiting for more tests.
Gers love to you and your mum
I'd better move as I want to get my ironing done first.
Hope everyone has a good day14 -
Morning all! grey and dismal, the rain has not got the hang of just doing it the once, instead, it's doing it now and again...It should go to rain training school. A day of baking awaits. Made the cake, two of OHs friends came round to the goth box last night and they each had a slice. It was quite crispy on the edges but there's only half of it left this morning, so it was obviously edible. I went to bed and left them to it talking incomprehensible chat about little men and GTA. The aubergines are waiting in their cling film for blitzing and I'll have to get my very smallest frying pan out for some tiny fritattas, they won't need cooking for very long. Got a zoom call booked with the architect for a couple of weeks time, they've been ill with the jab and one thing or another but it's all go ahead thank god.For anyone who thinks I'm busy, I'm really not, a good portion of any day is spent on the sofa usually with my head in my hand napping and then waking up with a dead hand. This is matched by one of my legs that goes dead if I stand up too long. On the plus side, I've lost weight so we'll see if that helps. I was reading somewhere about some vein or artery that gets squashed when you're overweight that can cause this so I very likely did it to myself. Got quite a few more pounds to go to remedy that though...:)Gers/snoozer My geum is Scarlet Tempest and I was most miffed to find out it's sterile. I was looking forward to odd ones popping up next year but it is not to be. I'll see if the cutting route works later on in the year when it's a bit more robust. And yes, I love a perennial, just just plonk them in the ground and away they go, I will look out for some hardy geraniums, I'm sure I can cram some more stuff in the front gardenGers, glad that's over in one fell swoop. Rosy, I bet they are getting fatigued too..If I extrapolate what I see in my area, there's a lot of rule-bending till it breaks and plain old just flouting. Hang in there... Scarlet, I did chuckle at you going to Barnard Castle. All kind of things popped into my head but I'm not going there
Bella, hope your limbo living ends soon. Nanny, sorry! wrong size hammer! I do hope anyone reading along has a day that doesn't involve rain stopping play or if it does, a good book or film and sofa snuggling. Stay safe..

Good morning from soggy Worcestershire! It was fine all day yesterday, but has rained heavily in the night again, we had wondered about pacing and leaving a day early, very wet day forecast, but should be fine all night and tomorrow, hopefully be able to pack dryish awning then.
Had excellent day at NT Croome Court yesterday and enjoyed picnic lunch there. What with walking there, woof walk and perusing the CS in Pershore I walked more than 10K steps, most I have done for a good while.
Sending healing and comforting thoughts to all that need them (I will be so pleased to get back to a proper keyboard, not good at tapping on a screen, too painful for long. Take care all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)11
