The basic tpms only shows a puncture by the wheel spinning faster, no pressure is shown, and no wheel is displayed, you have to check each wheel, its quite crude and the tyre has to lose quite a bit of pressure before it shows. Of course front wheels will spin at different speeds if you go round corners when the diff comes into play. Dont understand how some people only need air once a year., as even a new car kept in a garage low mileage needs more than that.
Perfectly possible, I haven't needed to put any air in the tyres since I bought my current car in July, last time I checked the pressure was a week ago.

it does seem implausible, but if they stay somewhere with a moderate climate and smooth roads then I suppose it's possible.
All our cars need adjustment a few times a year, but none of the above apply to where I live.

There's absolutely no reason why tyres SHOULD just lose pressure over time. If they do, it's because it's leaking. Older alloy wheels can get porous, valves and beads may not be properly sealed.

I've got a car in my garage which hasn't had the pressures checked for probably three or four years. If tyres really DID need to be topped up regularly, you'd expect them to at least look a bit soft now, right?

    Have you checked them?
Are you saying they're exactly the same pressure as they were?
Clearly tyres do lose air over time, every 'barn find' programme you see features cars with flat tyres.
Tyres are porous and even without leaks air molecules will pass through them with time.
