Is it possible to get travel insurance - Amber Country

I'm curious how everyone is getting travel insurance and from where? Seeing as the official advice is to recommend NOT to travel to amber destinations I presume this would invalidate travel insurance as most policies do not cover destinations against FCDO advice. Are people just risking it?

I'm sure that people are.  After a year why is their attitude likely to change now?

    1) there will always be people that risk it
    2) there may be specialist insurance products
    3) the FCO are not advising against travel to all amber destinations, for example the canary islands. Be careful not to mix up DOT/gov advice with FCO.

Personally I think it's all rather stressful. I would never take those kind of risks, not because I'm worried about COVID/terrorism etc. but because I like to have nice relaxing holiday and that's not my idea of being relaxed, but not everyone is the same.

Staysure offer  European FCDO Travel Advice Extension as an add-on .According to their website it covers you even when travelling against FCDO advice. So, you can visit Europe, MoroccoTunisiaTurkey and Egypt with valid travel insurance. ( *there is quite a lot of small print to read and check )

Make sure you know what you are covered for and what is excluded.
This allows you to still travel to destinations where the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) have advised against “all but essential travel”. However, you will not be covered for any claim which relates to the reason why the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) have advised against all, or all but essential travel. Additional policy exclusions and limits may still apply to certain situations such as (but not limited to) areas of war and civil unrest. This cover extension does not apply in conjunction with Section 18 COVID-19 cover. No cover will be provided in relation to COVID-19 when travelling against the travel advice issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
