My husband and I both have ISA's of £70,000 each. If one of us had to go into a care home could they take both ISA's into account to pay for it or just for the one for who has gone into the care home? We don't own any property now. Thanks for any replies.
Edited to add:- We have mirror wills with the money left to each of us and then family.

Only the assets owned by the person needing care are counted.
AgeUK have a lot of useful information about paying for care if you want to gen up on it.

The will doesn’t really come into it unless one of you dies while the other is in care and your estate then becomes theirs.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

We sold it and moved into supported housing.

Thanks for the replies, we thought it was just the money in one name they take into account but weren't sure.

So the £140000 are/include the proceeds of the sale? 🤔

That's good.  It would've been a problem if you gave it away.

I was unsure what supported housing meant. Is this social housing with warden/online support or has OP bought into one of those retirement complexes with the funds? 🤔

    It's social housing with wardens.

Thanks for the information. So the £70 000 each in ISAs comes from the proceeds of the property you sold or have you used any of the money (other than on day to day personal expenditure to augment a pension)?  🤔
