It does seem to differ with Halifax. Some people have only had checks at application, and some have had checks throughout. We currently have an offer from Halifax and they have so far only ran a hard search on application then once more when we changed address on our application. I don't think there is a hard and fast rule. OP I would recommend checking other credit reference agencies to see if their records match up with Experian.
