Gas Safety Record & Letting Agents Legal Obligations

Our previous house 300 miles away is let through an agency. I wasn't aware of the 2 month MOT style renewal on GSCs so I've always left it till last minute. There have been a couple of transgressions over the years which the LA has never made a massive deal about (and yes I know about LL's legal obligations).
This renewal date, the gas engineer got held up on a job and it's going to go overdue by maybe as much as 48 hours now. LA recently got taken over by a nationwide chain and this lot are saying:
"We write to inform you that despite several reminders, the annual gas safety is now overdue.

As it is the duty of all Landlords to comply with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998, we may need to write to the Health and Safety Executive (H&SE), explaining the problems we are encountering and asking them to take whatever action they may consider necessary".
So my question is, are they legally obliged to involve the HSE because the previous LA never took that line.

They are not legally obliged to report, but the Agent, the tenant or anyone else can report a lack of LGSR to HSE.Good to know the Agent takes your responsibilities seriously! Just thank them for their reminder and tell them it is booked for whatever date.3

He got held up and what just cancelled?
If the LA have had time to write , post and you receive their letter and it's already over due won't it be more than 48hours?
I'm really impressed by the LA . So many complaints on here about agents who don't care.
Next year get it in the diary earlier0 -
