Does anyone know of an account anywhere which pays interest and provides a cheque book?

Club Lloyds - default online application does not have a cheque book but you can still order one.
Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?

You can request a cheque book for the Santander 123 account.

Thanks but it requires direct debits and a £500 monthly deposit - we can't have those conditions for this application.  Any others?

I'd guess that most high street (not fintech) bank current account that offers interest can also provide a cheque book if you want one.

Have a look at the list of interest paying current accounts:  https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/compare-best-bank-accounts/#interest.

But bear in mind most, to get the interest, will have pay-in (and maybe other) requirements.  Pay-in can be easily got round by transferring money in, and then out again.

To obtain interest (on sums up to £5000) in Lloyds requires a £1500 monthly pay in and a couple of direct debits.

We should also mention that the interest paid on the first £4,000 is minimal. Even if you have the full £5,000 the total reward is really not worth the trouble.

The best thing about this account is the set of free cinema tickets.

Does it pay interest, and are there any minimum deposit, maximum withdrawal limits.  Any monthly pay-in requirements etc?

I'm not sure what you're looking at but according to my info it pays 0.6% on the first £4000 and 1.5% on the next £1000. Which instant access account beats that? Very few from what I've seen.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

The Virgin Money M plus account pays2% interest on the first £1000 and you can request a cheque book. There are no minimum pay in restrictions or direct debits needed.

If you look at the link I posted earlier it outlines what each interest-paying account requires.  No need to ask here, just look there.
