Coinbase good for noobs. Coinbase Pro much better fees. Swissborg I always recommend. Plus binance once you know what you’re doing

Coinbase seem to be preventing new UK customers from linking a bank account, so they won't have access to the cheap way to buy crypto. Looks like noobies would be best to get to grips with Binance.
  • It's worth having a Coinbase account for the 'Earn' freebies alone!

I would compare the fees structure of the big ones and see what would suit you better. For example, I believe trade frees are 0.1% on Binance and 0.5% on Coinbase Pro, but Coinbase Pro has free fiat withdrawals, while Binance charges you to take profits back to your bank account. So in that sense you could say maybe Coinbase is better for more Hodly types and Binance better for active traders.
  • Hi all
i clicked on the link following an advert which showed Martin and holly - I now know that that is not real but how do I find out if company is a scam- I paid in £200 through coin base and the platform is analystq- they keep ringing me and I keep ignoring the calls as terrified I have done the wrong thing

Apart from not following dodgy links from obviously fake endorsement adverts in the first place, Googling <company name> and 'scam' will usually bring back enough results to make the situation pretty clear - just be thankful that the lesson has only cost you £200, many will have been sucked in for much more....

Don't click on any bitcoin adverts, would seem to be universally good advice
Even though I'm super bullish on BTC, this actually isn't bad advice overall. More apt would be anything that guarantees you any kind of profit, is a scam, fact

I use coinbase pro, 0.5% on buy/sell transactions on the exchange. It's not the cheapest but its fine for me and I find it simple enough to use (just watch some videos on how to set up limit orders).

Saw another poster comment about being unable to link bank accounts?

Honestly I am not sure what they mean. You set up a bank account with coinbase, and then you transfer in money between one bank account (e.g. your current account) to the coinbase one. There is no linking, anyone can send money to my coinbase bank account if I provide you with the bank details.

Sometimes there is some kind of extra linking I think, similar between your UK retail bank and your revolut for example. But just as you said, you can just open your own banking app and do a faster payment from there. For some apps you are actually sending money to an account in your own name anyway.

Caveat might be if you're doing transfers of £10-15k+ then you might have to wait extra for some compliance checks but less than 0.5% of people on this forum will be be doing nowhere near that kind of size.

Someone just sent me a link saying Binance has their GBP/EUR rails for FPS and SEPA back, haven't looked into it yet but will today.
