O/S Daily Wednesday 12 May 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light - some cloud but sun shining - air warmer than yesterday at this time - sunshine and showers forecast for later..
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here, DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg and chips/salad. Tonight I'm not sure but have plenty of stocks so will organise something.
Yesterday work was busy but ok, working at a new to me office today so hoping that all goes ok.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc. It's very dull here, not at all promising. I'll need to rescue my raincoat from the wardrobe.Yesterday was fairly quiet with a manic hour and a half in the early afternoon. The lunch time carers arrived so I put my lunch in the oven to heat up. Just after they left the GP arrived, he was here for about 40 minutes as he had a long chat with me and then DM. I had turned the oven off meanwhile and turned it on again when he left. He wasn't gone five minutes when the district nurse appeared. No, not complaining as the medics are fab. By the time I got my lasagna it was on the crispy side and, as the nurse was here a neighbour left me a plate of homemade chorizo and potato muffins. ❤️ Then the rest of the day was quiet. I'm sorting through DM's clothes and doing as she said ' checking the pockets first'.
Today I have to pick up a script from the GP and get it filled. DM isn't really eating but I need something
I hope that everyone is doing well. Happy Wednesday to all.13 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc.
How lovely of your neighbours Gers and good to hear the medical support is in place.
Hope your DD is recovering dp1.
Good to hear from your Mehefin.
Very threatening this morning after a lovely afternoon yesterday, I had all the windows open for an hour or so when I got home and faffed about in the garden so I could be outside, although there really wasn't much to do apart from put away the new brown bin - the old one was badly cracked and it's taken weeks to get a new one. The old one was taken from the back garden but the new one was left in the middle of the driveway!
Work is incredibly busy at the moment and will be for a while yet, my head is full of things to do.
Hope everyone's well, take care. XX12 -
Morning all sun is shinning skip is full shed is empty ,loft is empty and just a few bits that need to go to the big house are in the garage so next week will be a big push in the house if yesterdays survey went ok fingers crossed we will hear today . The surveyor was here for 10 minutes long gone are the days of a full survey that we had done when we purchased the property. Will be doing the usual clean round today DD2 and her hubby are going to the other house for the weekend and we will see them in the garden for a BBQ I think they will come here to help move the last few bits from the garage .
Dog needs to be walked after my cuppa dinner freezer roulette I am not going shopping at the moment as we need to run the big chest freezer down for the move just shopping local for fruit and veg.
Right have a good day one and all I hope the sun is shinning wherever you are stay safe hugs to all those looking after poorlies and those who are unwell xxSlava Ukraini13 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. We have a beautiful start here with blue sky and bright sunshine and the weatherman says very little rain, if any, is expected! I am fed up of all heavy showers and looking at the month's forecast there is no end in sight. We are more than making up for the dry April.
I finally got all the pots filled at the back yesterday so that job is now done. The front garden and pots are awaiting some summer bedding but it's still a bit early for that. Meanwhile all this rain has encouraged the weeds to shoot up so I might address those today, if my legs co-operate. It will be a stop start job.
I couldn't get Sparkle in with the vet until tomorrow morning and, as the day went on, I was quite worried about the poorly eye increasingly looking worse. Usually the allergy just affects under the chin if nipped in the bud with the injection. Anyway this morning it looks less red thankfully so panic over.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. DUMPLING well done on your little trip outdoors. GERS as always you and your DM are in my thoughts but, you couldn't ask for better care for DM could you. Take care one and all and be safe x

Good morning everyone from The Malvern Hills. We are holed up in our caravan through torrential rain\hail storms, 36mph gusts of wind interspersed with warm sunny intervals, 2 days spent reading and eating, but aiming for a trip out today.
Sending hugs to all that need some, thinking of Gets and her DM, Nelski, dp1s DD, Dumpling, Marie and Nan, Marie and Poppy.
Better check the weather forecast to see what delights the elements are likely to be offering us today. Take care all.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)14 -
Morning all! Shiny sun time after yesterday when it properly chucked it down for most of the afternoon and night. Seed sowing did happen yesterday, at last, so no more niggly feelings of 'I must do that soon'. I did manage to tip a whole packet of very small seeds into a pot and get them covered with dirt so if they all germinate, I'm in for a lot of lettuce. I made chicken gyros last night, sans the chips and what a revelation flatbreads are! Two ingredients and a dry pan, couldn't be simpler. I'll have the leftovers for lunch today. Tonight will be a similar concoction I think using turkey meatballs or patties. Once I find something I like I tend to have it to death. Didnt sleep well, kept waking myself up snorting so there'll be napping in my future but my shoulder has really improved with the wedge pillow even if it feels like I'm queen of all I survey when I'm lying back on my new throne.Today we have taxi'ing for OH, cooking, a spot of hoovering and I think the steam mop needs ot be pressed into action in the kitchen. A potter in the garden will round that off nicely. Maybe an inventory of what's in the freezers will happen. the little chest one is half full now and I know there's room to put things in the fridge freezer so stuff shifting will occur.TA, poor sparkle, hope she gets sorted soon. Gers, good luck having lunch today, but good to hear the carers and doc are completely on the ball. and a quicker appointment for teeth! woop? Bella, finishing line in sight! woop! nice to see you mehefin.. florence, wlel now, that looks pretty! nanny, hope you had more sleep this time! dp1, it's been a lot of faffing about to find out what's wrong hasn't, hope she's sorted now. Take care of yourselves today [ and every day really] be nice to yourselves, tell yourselves you're fabNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi13

Morning all and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
Good to hear about your DM's medical care Gers and what nice neighbours!
Dumpling well done on the getting out, that was good news.
Here it continues in sachets, e old, same old way, we should all have our second jabs next week. Cloudy weather with rain promised later, the garden did need rain but not necessarily this much. I'm catching it in buckets in case we get another dry spell big buckets they are.
WI shingle everyone a nice day and I hope Sparkle improves.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
not good news here, the cancer has probably spread to my spine hence the recent fracture. I have to have a scan and then possibly a radiotherapy treatment for pain relief. have now got a GP to oversee my care and she is going to refer me to the palliative care nurse. I did have an opticians appointment yesterday and no real change in my eyes so at least one part of my body is behaving itself. sorry for the miserable message but difficult to accept14

. pleased to hear you had a reasonable day Gers and that your neighbours are so supportive, it does make a difference.
Beautiful morning here, DB tells me its not to rain until tonight, hooray.
I went over to see my neighbour yesterday afternoon, she is ding fine. The carer went in yesterday and showered her and washed her hair. The suggection I made about the garden has been greeted with a few tears of joy. She does love her flowers but is really unable to look after them. So we will be planting up her urns in a couple of weeks and putting them on the patio outside the kitchen door. If the weather is fine and warm she can sit out. My gardener will look after the pots and come down and water if we have a very dry spell, he will also weed etc the little border at the front.
I did get a bit more of the quilt binding sewn down yesterday, will do a bit more today. No real plans. We had a ding dinner last night. DB had beef hot pot, I had sweet and sour chicken, a portion of the crumble with a spoon of clotted cream for dessert, there is enough left for tonight.
Its Aldi tomorrow. I am in a bit of a cleft stick, I do like Aldi, but their fruit and veg has really gone to the wall, yesterday I had to throw 2 lemons and an orange away. Am thinking of shopping for fruit and veg, either at Morrison or Sainsbury.

Good morning all,Very dull here, in for rain later.Still chilly too, could see my breath earlier when I took the dog out. I'm continuing the big clothes clearout/tidy, the bin was full yesterday when they emptied it, and DH has taken a bag of rubbish away.He should finish the job he's been on for the last 4 months today, you'd think he'd take the rest of the week off, but no
He will take me to pickup DGS from school though as the car is still off the road. Quick tea tonight though- I'm thinking bacon butties, as DGS has a rearranged football match after.Hope it's not cancelled again, not a great forecast.
Dp1 hope your DD is feeling a bit better, she's had it rough poor thing.Gers, nice neighbours, and DM is quite right- check the pocketsHope Sparkle improves soon TA, Ly la suffers with allergies round her eyes and chin too.Taff did you make the flatbreads or buy them? Like the sound of the gyrosGood to hear an update from you MehefinTake care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
