Marriott Vacation Club - need to help the inlaws!”

Please can someone help as I just can’t find out a definitive answer!
My inlaws are approaching 80. They have a Marriott Vacation Club timeshare in Spain and have owned it for about 20 years and in that time spent an absolutely absurd amount on it despite my husband telling them they never should have signed up to it!
Anyway, with them both getting on in years and with ailing health they want to end the agreement. They won’t go abroad again. My husband is apparently named on the deeds of it and doesn’t want to be lumbered with it after their passing either. It has an annual fee of over 6k!

They’ve already been scammed by a couple of dodgy “we’ll buy your timeshare” companies despite us telling them to hang up the phone!
Can’t seem to get an answer from Marriott.

What is the process here for getting rid?
They just want out and my husband doesn’t want to be left with it either. It’s a financial burden and worry for all.
They understand it may cost them to get rid of it but just need this blasted thing gone!
What is the best way to go about this? They’re very stubborn people and don’t want to accept they never should have signed up to the thing in the first place (sigh)
Any advice much appreciated!
Thanks in advance
