Hi all
Just on here for a moan more than anything - if youve kept up with my threads on here you'll know I'm fully in the throes of FTB in one of the busiest markets in the country
(+16% price rise YoY at last count) and I'm thoroughly fed up. Ive had pull outs, cash buyer gazumps and lost about three BAFOs - I'm seriously starting to think I will never, ever find somewhere and that the rate pricing is going I'll be priced out of the market as the sad singleton I am very, very soon
tell me its going to be ok?

It is going to be okay. If you believe in fate then know that your time will come. You weren't meant to get those houses you've missed out on. The universe has something special waiting. Trust.....Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.5

Aw this sounds really rubbish. I feel your pain. I wish I could say it would all be ok but not sure it would help. All you can do is keep on keeping on. There's bound to be someone on here who has been through what you have and got there in the end.1

I feel your pain I’m in a similar situation buying alone, can’t find anything, outbid. If prices keep shooting up it’s not going to happen. Saying that things happen for a reason sometimes you end up where you should be not where you thought you would be.0

Capitalism means, sadly, some people win, some lose. Please don't believe buying property is necessarily a good idea. Property prices do not and have not always gone up.
Good luck.3 -
I am joining your party. Not a singleton but not pushing for my partner to merge with a big decision like this with me just yet and it feels like the market is just so against me, as a single income buyer.
I know things will work out as it should be and figure out what my other options are at some point - but I'm in that moment at present where I am just letting the heartbreak hurt a little. Hopes that would help ease your pain too!0 -
You'll get there. It just takes time. I also think come the end of the year it'll calm down a bit also, so bit less competition hopefully 🤞0

The more people in the market trying to outbid each other the higher prices will rise. Take yourself out of the stress for a while - it will help your mental health and it will stop adding more fuel to the fire.
Things will stabilise eventually.
p.s everything is going to be ok0 -
You will get there, even if it takes longer to achieve than you might have originally hoped. Fundamentals cannot support endless price increases at this level and the market will probably stabilise over the next 12 months. In the meantime keep saving hard, live below your means, and you will be in a stronger position with a better deposit when the market becomes less frenetic.

The right place will come along. I'm of the school of thought that the market will cool once the SDLT holiday is over (yes we know that in reality it is over for anyone spending over £250K but nobody will actually accept it and we are seeing more people asking for another extension etc).I have been looking on and off for quite a while, had to pull out of one place due to circumstances with work which have since settled and a couple of places I was interested in suddenly gained more interest the moment I ventured with an offer (and I wasn't going into any bidding wars).I have now found a place which is completely different to what I thought I wanted! It's early days but this might be the one - if it is then the others definitely weren't !1

You’re part of the club! Me and my husband are first time buyers and we’re concerned we won’t ever get on the property ladder. We thought we had enough for a 5% mortgage and fees (much like a lot of under 40 couples and singletons) but there isn’t anything coming up in our budget (or if there is, we can’t even get a viewing)
seems we are so close but the goal
posts keep moving and those houses we could afford now might actually be out of our reach in the next 12 months if the housing market people are to be believed.0
