Hi,
i moved in my new house two months ago, I didn’t know who the energy supplier was until 4 weeks ago when I tried to join Octopus but avro objected. I finally managed to get avro to open account but yesterday they emailed me final bill for £210.93, I paid this bill this morning by my credit card. I checked my bank account and avro had taken £75 direct debit this morning, I cancelled the direct debit has it should have been taken on the 1 st of the month.
Avro are very hard to contact by phone, I have tried Twitter messages to avro which is reasonable quick.
Why did avro send final bill of £210.93 and still want direct debit £75?
I have tried to switch to Octopus again today but avro probably will object again.
What Shall I do?

The DD would have been initiated before you paid with a credit card.

No the DD was set up for the 1st of the month, I paid the final invoice this morning.
I filled out avro form about month ago and asked DD to be taken on 1st of the month.
I cancelled DD and messaged Avro I will pay by one off payment when my switch to another supplier is done.

The DD will be credited against your Avro account, and any credit will be refunded to you once your account with them is settled.

It seems strange they'd have sent you a final bill already if they are still your supplier? Even if you start a switch to Octopus today, Avro will be your supplier for the next 14-21 days.  Avro have no grounds to object to a switch now if the account is not in debt.

Avro energy are a nightmare to contact. I paid final invoice this morning and they tried to take DD today but I cancelled DD and emailed Avro that I’ll pay them by card payment.
The DD was be for the 1st of the month not today’s date.
    Absolute nightmare to deal with,

The final bill was from 10/9/20 till 1/4/21. The amount was £210.93. In my confusion I paid without checking as I told them the starting date.
I moved in the property on 5/3/21.
I emailed avro to send me amended bill. I

Hang on, you paid a bill going back to September last year when you moved in only two months ago?  From what I have read on here, Avro are terrible at paying back credit when you leave them.  Good luck trying to get them to refund your payment for your predecessor's bill, if that is what you have done.  Sorry, OP but you should never pay a bill without first finding out if you actually owe it/all of it.  Apologies if I have misunderstood your post.

Avro have been nightmare to deal with, it’s been over 2 months since I moved in and on the avro change of tenancy form I wrote I moved in on the 5/3/21 but they still invoiced me from 10/11/20. I cancelled my DD until they amend the invoice. I have emailed the change of tenancy dept with my solicitor letter proving the date I moved in.
Avro takes several days to answer emails, the lady on Twitter message replies back within hour so I usually message her.

Something has obviously got lost in translation and they haven't taken the moving in date you've given them and gone backwards until the last time a bill was paid for the address.

Are you renting by any chance? It could be that previous tenants moved out on the 10/09/20 and did settle up?  Or if you've purchased was the property empty for a period?

I agree Avro customer services are painfully slow at the moment to deal with.  Although I have found that they do get there in the end.
