Looking at the brickwork above the frame, it might be easier to whip out the triangle of brickwork that has moved, stick a tray and the lintel in and rebuild. Would save having acrows and strongboys in the way of  installing that heavy lintel.

Thanks. Any idea how much this work typically costs?

Given the large crack in the ceiling is nice and straight, it’s quite possible that it’s the gap between 2 boards has moved when someone has been in the attic.
Is that a cause for concern?

Fitting of new lintels requires building regs and sign-off if you like to keep things above board and save on hassle when selling. Do replacement lintels require the same amount of paperwork - I'm not too sure, so give your local council a ring and check.
If it does fall within the remit of Building Control, the two lads down the pub might not be wise.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Time served bricklayers drink in the pub as well as the cowboys.

A 2 and 1 gang should be able to do that in a day, so with materials around £1200. Depends on the area you live as well. Getting people in to do a small job costs a bit more as you need to make the price attractive enough.
