5 year old defaults

Hi there. My partner and I have 10 % to
put towards a mortgage. Unfortunately we both have defaults, mine come off this year, but my partners come off next year. We hardly have  any debt and are both in full time employment. What are the chances of getting a mortgage with 10 %?

Well it will narrow your choice down for sure. Not impossible but it's going to depend somewhat on the loan value, your income etc. You definitely want to find a mortgage broker to identify suitable lenders for you.

I don't think it will be impossible, but you will be slightly more limited. You may end up paying higher rates or needing a larger deposit. There will be lenders out there that will be able to offer you something. Definetely get a good mortgage broker.

I would say if you can then getting 15% would be optimal, or maybe waiting a little longer? Get some expert advice.
  • As we thought. We’ve inquired but a few advisors that we have spoken to have said the same. Thank tou
