Self Assessment Wrong Tax Account

This is something I found.

That makes more sense. By way of an attempt to justify - the personal tax account is a somewhat newer venture than the business tax account. It appears, therefore, that those already registered for self-assessment have automatic access to the personal tax account but not the other way round. I suppose that this makes sense as many wish to access their personal tax account, NIC record, pension forecast etc but have no need or desire to file a tax return.0

I have a business tax account and personal tax account because of self employment. They both link together. I doubt you have anything to worry about.[Deleted User] said:
Sorry. I have never come across this in the 24 years since self-assessment commenced. If you need to speak to HMRC try 8am sharp.justtoolittletoolate said:
No, when I click on ‘self assessment’ in my personal tax account, it tells me that it is registered under another account and takes me to the log in page.[Deleted User] said:
I have to say that I am perplexed by this. Is there no option to file a return on your personal tax account?justtoolittletoolate said:When I log into my personal tax account with my original gateway ID, I can see a link to my ‘business account’ which I click on, and it asks me to log in again with the other ID. I can only do the self assessment on the business account rather than personal. Hope that makes sense.
You should not have a separate ID for a ‘business account’0 -
Yes - I have too! My business account has been in existence since 1997 and, when access to personal tax accounts for all came into being, I automatically had access to it without the need for a separate id. I am sure that you had too! It appears, as in the case of the op, that those who have registered for a personal tax account who now wish to register for self-assessment (business tax account) require a separate id/ log in details.Jeremy535897 said:

That's progress for you. I shudder to think about MTD for self assessment in just 2 years...[Deleted User] said:
