Hi all
A bit of advise please.I thought that for my mother's estate I could use IHT 205 but I have a query re question 6 ' Did the deceased pay premiums on any life insurance policies there were not for their own benefit or did not pay out to the estate, and did they buy an annuity at any time? ' . My mother did buy an annuity ( which paid £495 per year) but not as a result of life insurance . Is this actually connected to the life insurance part of the question or separate? I hope it's connected or that IHT 400 etc for me. TIA

The wording is:
"Did the deceased pay premiums on any life insurance policies that were not for their own benefit or did not pay out to the estate, AND did they buy an annuity at any time?"
and not
"Did the deceased pay premiums on any life insurance policies that were not for their own benefit or did not pay out to the estate, OR did they buy an annuity at any time?"
So if your late mother did not also have life insurance I would answer the question NO.
(I think the question is probably related to a tax dodge, which won't apply to your late mother's estate.)2 -
Brilliant! Thanks so much!
