If you want 2 chargers at some point look at Zappi it has load balancing so would only charge the car when there was capacity available.  Unless you have electric heating in the night you would seldom pull enough for the Zappi to cut the charge rate.
    Interesting cheers.
I still think the one podpoint will do us, especially while Scotland still does free public charging and I can use the Chademo rapids at the local park and ride.  :)

Are there still free quick chargers in the UK? I thought there were a fair few at first, but doing a online search the other day they seem to be all chargable.

AFAIK public charging is still free on the majority of Scottish chargers, as long as they accept the 'chargeplace Scotland' card to activate them.
The card is £20 per year and you have to give them a credit card when you apply, just in case you use a chargeable point.
But in a year of Leaf ownership, my costs on that card were zero.
I can only think of one chargeable charger near me, at an Aldi, the myriad of others are free, including the local shopping centres.
Now, what does an english EV driver visiting Scotland do.....?...I really don't know!
I don't know if they need to have the foresight to apply for a chargeplace Scotland card, I don't even know if an England address precludes it.
Maybe they just use their normal cards and are charged for it....hmmmm....

Only need one here as im the only one that drives.
Thats interested you said that discounted chargers are available to used cars too. Does that have to be through a dealership or from anyone, private or trade?
Any used car firm any source, you need the V5 in your name and the address of the location that you are having the charger fitted the same. Dealers are not really part of the process (they might recommend a company as they are on commission) the OLEV registered installer claims the grant you never see the money you just pay less. Scotland has free charging, its slowly coming to an end. I don’t bother chasing free charging as on Octopus Go you’re at 1.5p per mile ish anyway.

    1.5p per mile? wow!
Anyone here good with maths?  :D
I am trying to work out what my Rav does per mile in comparison.
Ive seen a US website here say it does 23mpg https://www.fueleconomy.gov/Feg/bymodel/2003_Toyota_RAV4.shtml
and a UK site say it does 34mpg https://www.parkers.co.uk/toyota/rav4/estate-2000/used-review/mpg-running-costs/

Based on US website and US Gallons
    US gallon = 3.78541 litres
Price of Unleaded 126.3p per litre
    So 126 x 3.78541 = means US gallon petrol = £4.78
    £4.78 / 23 miles = 21p per mile
    8k mileage = £1600 per year / £140 per month
    ---
Based on UK website and UK Gallons
    UK gallon = 4.54609 litres
Price of Unleaded 126.3p per litre
    So 126.3 x 4.54609 = means UK gallon of petrol = £5.74
    £5.74 / 34 miles  = 17p per mile
    8k mileage = £1360 per year / £136 per month

Those monthly fuel figures are about right looking at my credit card fuel bills.

So am I right in thinking a Leaf would do the same mileage for £120 for the year / £12pm ?!

FWIW, I didn't have any form of special electricity tariff.
I'm sure it used to cost me around £3 to 'fill' my Leaf, which then got you around 90 miles
    So about 3.3p per mile.
I could and should have investigated tariffs that got me lower night rates.

Yep so electric cars typically do 3 to 4 miles per kWh and each kWh costs 5p overnight with Octopus Go. So 1.5p per mile is achieved.

That's swaying me even more to goto electric.
A quick review of monthly fuel, mot, tax, insurance for the Rav works out at £199.50 per month... Which seems conveniently the price of some electric lease deals 😁

I could also remove my AA membership if a car replacement includes that..

I've seen some 2nd hand Leafs for sale around £9/10k mark. I would need a loan to cover that. A shame the first dealer I googled for reviews had been in court for taking mileages on cars 😁 That's what makes me paranoid about buying 2nd hand, shady sellers. 👎

Since car dealerships have opened up, car prices are higher about £1,000 to £2,000. Bargains are hard to find....
