Item Not Received

So I sold an item last Wednesday.  I sent it signed for second class on Thursday.  Item hasn't arrived yet and the buyer has opened a case.
Do they allow people to open cases that quickly?  I am sure it used to make you wait for a week or so before you could open a case?
The item is still in transit which the buyer can clearly see as I input the tracking code as soon as I posted it.

They shouldn't be able to open a case until the estimated delivery time has passed. So if you listed it as being sent second class and had your handling time set up correctly then it shouldn't have been allowed.

However I don't think the eBay estimated delivery dates are quite right.
I've just checked one of my listings. Listing ends Thursday 13th, but estimated delivery is Wednesday 19th, I have 3 day despatch and 2nd class post, so that would be optimistic if I despatched on the third day (Monday) it would be quick to get there in two days, although many of my second class items have been arriving quickly I think.

What was the estimated delivery date?

If you posted 2nd class Thursday then I suppose it would be due today as it says 2 to 3 working days. I thought eBay allowed longer estimates than that?!?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

As the case is now open you will have to keep to the timelines.  Hopefully the parcel status will change to delivered so that you will win the case.

But the OP may have missed last posting time on Thursday so item didn't get picked up till Friday......and if the post is anything like ours Saturday deliveries are very hit and miss, Monday is only ever junk mail
  • Even though you posted it Thursday, did you post it within your specified posting period. For example if you had it set as same day or 1 working day and took longer to post, that would be your fault not theirs.

My dispatch time is 3 days.  Yes, it says on the RM site that second class signed for should be there in 3 working days.  So technically, I guess it should have been with the buyer today.  I posted before lunch time on Thursday and I know the last collection is about 4.45pm in my post office.

Thanks for your responses.  I just remember I had to wait over a week and bit before I was able to open a claim about a year ago when my item never showed up.   Things must have changed.

I thought the despatch time meant the time for you to despatch.
    So that's 6 days.

if you have 3 day despatch then second class it should be six days for the original estimate, but once marked as despatched it might adjust I think.
But for item sold Wednesday that means you should have until Tuesday (tomorrow) at earliest. But from marked as despatched on Thursday 3 days would be today...

    Item safely delivered today.
I was in a bit of a panic yesterday when she opened the case up.  Thanks all for your help.

Sorry to be a bother again but will the case automatically close down?  It's still saying "awaiting response from buyer" but it is also saying delivered on the tracking.  Do I have to contact eBay to close the case down?
