Bay window seating and radiator

Hi
As part of renovations, my wife in her best judgement wants a bay window seating (like a wooden bench with sponge) where I intended to put the traditional radiator under the window. Can we put a radiator behind the window seat or should we just put a radiator somewhere else in the living room?
Also, those in the know, do the tall vertical radiators provide the same sort of heating output as normal column radiators? The idea being that perhaps we can put tall radiator on some inner wall (away from the window).
Thanks
Robie

You can put a small radiator within the window seat, you just treat it in the same way as a radiator cover. Google search "window seat radiator cover" for plenty of examples.

It won't radiate though if you cover it up or contain it within a window seat.  Provided that you have an air inlet at the bottom and an air outlet at the top it will act as a convector.

In a well insulated & draught free house, there is no need to put radiators under windows (in my opinion). The original reasoning was hot air rises and heats the cold air falling down in front of a single glazed window. Heat loss through a good double/triple glazed window is considerably less, so put the radiator where pipes can be kept short & neat.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Thank you. That makes sense. Our house is quite well insulated so perhaps we may not need a radiator by the window.

Depends what you put as the seat - wood is not a very good conductor of heat.  I'll take your comment in the spirit it was posted and go Hmmmm Nice!
