Lost Royal Mail Package
DebCol
I posted a package of return items via the Royal Mail at the beginning of April. I stupidly didn’t do Track & Trace, but had a reference id. The shop I wanted to return it too was 50 yards away but was closed due to COVID.
I have chased & found out their systems state it was never delivered; but can tell me nothing else or even look into why it was not delivered.
As I have no proof of what was in the package they are only offering me the cost of the stamps & nothing else. Does anyone know if there is anything else I can do, or have I lost all chance to see the items again? Thanks

With no tracking and no insurance, I can't see you can do anything other than reclaim the cost of the postage.1

Why do you not have proof of what you were returning?
For example if it was a t-shirt bought from t-shirts limited, and the address is t-shirts limited that should be enough evidence that you are returning that item of that value. That should be enough evidence to satisfy their policy of being able to prove "Where an item is lost or damaged beyond repair then it is the amount it cost the customer to acquire, purchase or manufacture the item subject to adjustment to take account of condition, age and depreciation". As if you are returning something just bought you should have proof of what you paid for it.
Assuming you got proof of postage you should be able to claim up to £20 from Royal Mail, £50 for signed for.
Unless the place you were sending it to provided the label in which case they should be the ones claiming for the lost package.3
