1)This text comes from a website https://www.edfbond.com/ which was registered on 5th May 2021 by someone in Iceland.
    2) It would seem to be a corporate bond.    Corporate bonds are not protected under FSCS.

Perhaps the OP is on a sucker list, I cant think how else he would know about this wonderful opportunity.
  • I received it via email.
    Ok thanks to all.

No doubt I’m on many mug lists. I got this same message as a text!
  • Got similar today. My suspicions arose because:
    • First and foremost I'm suspicious of any email with a clickable link, more so in an unsolicited email and still more where it's something that involves money/investments.
    • Being a computer geek I sometimes look further anyway ...
    • I'm not a customer but it claimed to be an offer for "current and former customers"
    • It was sent to my business email address.  The business occupies a small room in my home and doesn't have a separate power-supply.
    • The email was light on content but with 3 prominent "Apply now" links
    • Those links went to edfpromotions2022.lt.acemlnc.com - that's a subdomain of acemlnc.com - looks dodgy.  The "real" EDF could use subdomains for parts of their business in this case they could go for something like bonds.edfenergy.com, no need to use a different primary domain.
    • The sender's address was info@edfpromotions2022.com rather than use the main EDF domain edfenergy.com
    • It includes the sentence "...customers who have in the past expressed an interest in investing..." Well I haven't expressed an interest in investing.
    • I took a relevant phrase from the email and Googled it. With widespread scams that often finds an alert but be careful, best to disregard supportive postings on Facebook or elsewhere saying something like "[the thing you just saw] is not a scam". In this instance the search led me here.

  • Yes, it's back again.....no doubt some will see greed overcome their caution and send money to these thieves. Money that they won't see again.....however I do hope that they aren't going to be 'compensated' for their own stupidity by the rest of us.
