Good morning and thank you for starting today's thread nmlc.
I managed to get 2 loads of washing dry yesterday, good job too because rain is forecast with a potential thunderstorm.
I have masses of jobs to do so I might spend most of today steadfastly ignoring them, a skill that I have honed to perfection lately.
Now that I've written about the impending storm, the sun has come out but it is that sort of sunshine that breaks through and illuminates the clouds.
I am sending loving thoughts to Gers and her DM and of course to any of us who might like a little virtual support.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back14 -
Morning all, & hugs to those in need.It was a quiet weekend for us, DH was helping DS with his car renovation. I thought he'd finished it, but no, he's decided to do another job on it. I went out to post a card & when I got back DH was talking to a couple - turned out they were at primary school together & the man's dad ran the cub group. He saw our name on the side of the van when they were walking past! We have been sorting old photos and DH ran in and produced one of the group. I offered to copy it, but as you could hardly see his Dad he declinedIt's looking pretty grey- think we're in for some more rain.Nothing really planned for today, I have a dog food delivery coming & that's about the sum of excitement for today
I'm planning a chicken traybake for tea, and still trifle left from last night which the men can have.
Dumpling, well done on thinking to get out of the house.Take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)13 -
Morning all
Dry and bright here but rain due later I think, I have a wash on the go and will hang it out for a while.
Will take the pups to the park later and hopefuly see my firend its nice to be able to walk and chat with someone, dd's pup plays with the pup that she walks so they both come away shattered.
It turned into a lovely day yesterday we were walking in t-shirts but there were loads of bugs about so they have obviously woken with the heat too.
DW needs emptying an a quick tidy round and floors sweeping and a quick mop , not sure about dinner but there is plenty in.
Gers I am glad mum had a little something to eat xxx
Dumpling I hope you manage to get out, and I am thinking of your sister xx
Have good days all xx13 -
Morning all.
Oh Gers, just a little bit of normality yesterday with your Mum having a fancy for fish and chips. At least her head wants to eat even if her body doesn't follow suit.
I don't think that Newcastle is the only place where once derelict, slummy areas have suddenly been transformed into highly desirable districts with eye-wateringly highly undesirable prices.
Last year, the house that I sold for £250,000 nearly 30 years ago changed hands for £5,000 less than 2million. My sons were most amused. "You missed a trick there, Mum," was their verdict.
Dumpling, I hope you manage your walk. You should be so proud of yourself.
I hope everyone has a good start to the week. I am off to do a replenishing of stocks visit to the big supermarket. I've been living off my stores for well over a year now and the gaps are showing.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all.I decided to strip the bed this morning and wash the bedding, mistake ! Before I could step foot out of the door to hang it out, down came the rain ! This was not forecast as it was supposed to be the odd shower and not a complete deluge
Oh well indoor drying it will be unless the weather does a complete 180%.
Today I have to submit my meter readings, clean the bedroom and re-make the bed, then I need to check my food stocks as I seem to have a few holes where things have been used up and not replaced. Naughty nan, very lackadaisical. I shall be so bemused when I go in a sm again, it's been over 13 mths 😮There are some potatoes left over from yesterday's roast so I'll saute those for tea and have them with something, not sure what but I'll find something to suit us.Monna another one here with gaps in the food stocks.Take care allnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently13 -
Warm enough to wear my sandals today when we walked into town - my toes enjoyed the fresh air. Very strong wind coming off the sea - blowing up the high street.
Ordered yet more yarn - I justify by telling myself it is all going to be used for fund raising for the SA.
Popped in a charity shop and came out with 6 of their 20p books.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Hello everyone,
Just been having a late catch-up....before I put her to bed little one and I have been standing at the window watching the rain pelting down and talking about the swirly black clouds. Now it's bright sunshine! Been the same all day ...sunny one minute and torrential rain the next.
Youngest DD was taken back to hospital on Saturday and had an operation yesterday to investigate - turned out she had twisted cysts on her ovaries which were removed - a problem she has had twice before. She came round from the anaesthetic about 7.30 last night and was told she could leave by 8 this morning! So she's home, very sore but ok. Little one came to 'granny's work' this afternoon and will do the same for the next couple of days. Luckily I work at a nursery!
Gers / ScarletRibbons - I'm about 60 miles from Newcastle and the same from Edinburgh so for a day out or shopping can go to either. I prefer Newcastle for shopping as I know where all my shops are. My dad was born in Newcastle and lived there as a little boy so I feel more of an affiliation for Newcastle. In normal times I will go every few months - when I was there for my hospital appointment last week I noticed a lot of the smaller shops on the way from the station up to Northumberland Street had closed. Down by the Quayside has changed drastically over the last few years.
Well I'm going to get my pyjamas on and make a cuppa. Little one was very loudly awake at half past 5 this morning, so I won't be late going to bed.
