O/S Daily Monday 10 May 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Light but cloudy and damp underfoot, we've had rain during the night but not raining at the moment. Air feels warmer too.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and I'm enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. Lunch yesterday was roast pork, nice it was too, some LO's.
Back to work this morning - I suspect we'll be busy as last few starts to the weeks.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC. It's dry here and doesn't feel as cold as it has been, yesterday was a lovely day. Maybe winter is finally over.We got out in the garden yesterday for a tidy up, and to clear up odd bits from when our new bedroom window was put in on Saturday, the man did clear up but it was raining hard, and little bits of debris were impossible to sweep up. Anyway it looks better now.I'm meeting a friend in Newcastle today, it's our third attempt at meeting up what with illness, and other things happening, so it'll be good to see her, it's now over a year since we met.Hope Gers and her Mum have had a peaceful night, and thinking of our other poorly people today.Take care folks15

Morning All
Cloudy again this morning with the rain not far away. Yesterday rained on and off but I went out into the garden and planted up the hanging baskets anyway. It was good to be out in the fresh air and wasn't too cold, although I did have a wooly hat on but more for keeping me dry than warm.
DW emptied and washing put away from yesterday, decided to do a wash as the heating was on. Packed lunches made for the next 2 days and I've been for a walk.
Thinking of Gers and her DM along with the poorlies, hope you all have a better day.
Take care. XX15 -

Morning folks.Yesterday was quiet as DM slept for most of the day. Oddly enough she woke briefly at 4.30pm to ask for fish and chips. I had some delivered within half an hour and, of course she ate one chip and two very small mouthfuls of fish before going back to sleep. A little later she asked for a tiny piece of bread with raspberry jam. I think she's really wanting to eat, or feels that she should, but can't.My day just seemed to pass me by. Today I will have to go out as I want to untangle a couple of financial areas and take some stuff to the tip and CS.Scarlet - I hope you manage to meet your friend today, that would be so lovely. Yesterday I did some looking at property for sale in Newcastle, the area round the Quayside has had so much done to it. Lots of those old warehouses turned into apartments, Newgate Street almost completely changed and the same down by Central Station and the top of Grey Street. It was a shock but also a surprise too. Old buildings on Jesmond Road West, right by where I used to live, were derelict when I was there, now a bit has been renamed Carlton Terrace (as was originally) and for sale at £1m plus. Such changes! Now I wish all our MIA's are doing better. Happy Monday to all.16

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. After a lovely day yesterday (spoilt by a shower at teatime) we were treat to the most amazing sunset. This morning the sun is shining but rain is forecast by early afternoon. The bonus is it feels milder at last.
I never did get the plants potted on yesterday so will aim to do them today before the rain arrives. I'll poke around in the pots that I planted the bulbs in and see if there is any sign of life in them. I planted a variety so surely they can't all fail!
I finally got the M & S skirt shortened yesterday after it's been sitting pinned and gathering dust for about a fortnight! I know I am well overdue an eye test, and new specs, but it took me longer to thread the needle on the machine than it took to actually sew the skirt! I had to resort to attempting it with a magnifying glass!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for our poorlies and poorly loved ones. Thinking of GERS and DM at such a trying time. Take care one and all x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
It was mild yesterday we were able to sit on the back of the boat without freezing,, shopping today and then planning our next move.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.16 -
Good morning all; looks sunny outside today.
Have taken a cup of tea up to DH, who is reading in bed, but once he is ready we are going over to an independent Brewery shop to spend the last of his vouchers there. We might find a pub for a lunchtime drink but a lot of them are closed the early part of the week.
Yesterday we did a 4 mile walk in Bedfordshire and it was pleasantly warm. I hovered between wearing my jacket and carrying it. We still have the heating on here, as the house feels cold, but it's time to bite the bullet and switch it off.
Feel like making tomato soup for tonight so will see how that goes.
Have a good day everyone.15 -
Good morning everyone
It's dry and sunny here this morning for now so I am going to take the opportunity to start my plan for getting out and about. To this end I have had a wash and got dressed and will make a cup of hot chocolate as a reward for doing it. I am only planning to get down the path and across to my neighbours gate and back but it is a start. Just need Steve to get dressed as he is coming with me.
I am going to make a cheese and onion quiche today and then later we are having steak pie and mash with peas and gravy. I am quite enjoying the ready meals but the portions are so small so today I am cooking so I don't fill up with bread and butter.
It was my sister's birthday yesterday and she had a wonderful time. The photos show her with a headscarf on now as she has lost most of her hair. She still looks absolutely beautiful though. She has 2 more rounds of chemo, then a scan and then hopefully the surgery. We all have everything crossed that she gets more time with us.
Sending you all love especially Gers and her mum xx15 -
Gers, yes, Newcastle has definitely changed over the years. When I was a teen, (quite a long time ago!) where the Sage and the Baltic are now ( I know they're in Gateshead but it's only over the river) were just derelict warehouses, and Newcastle Quayside is so different. I'm meeting my friend in Grey Street, beside Grey's Monument, we always meet there. When you see a place frequently it's easy to forget what areas used to be like - my friends and I used to meet socially in Newcastle when we were 18 - 19, the city has certainly changed since then.I know I'm biased of course, but I think it's a vibrant city. Dp1 might give us her views, she's a local.13

Morning, hugs if you need one. Gers, pleased you had a settles day yesterday and that your Mum showed signs of wanting to eat.
Today is my youngest daughters birthday, she is 53!! Oh my goodness where did all the years go? Have sent her facebook greetings. We did see her last week and hope to be able to go and see her at home very soon.
Yesterday I potted up the 72 seedlings, some of them I doubt will grow, but we will see they are out in the grow house. I ordered DB's birthday present yesterday, a 6 x 6 greenhouse, it will not get here until the end of September, should be up in time to store some plants over winter.
Bed stripped and sheets etc in the washer, its a sunny morning, so hopefully it will dry on the line. Cleaner here this morning so I need to get the fresh linen out and the fitted sheet on before she comes, she helps me with the huge duvet cover.
Supper tonight is egg and chips, will pull some rhubarb for dessert, possibly a crumble.9
