Lowell Portfolio 1 Ltd - Letter

Evening all,
A letter arrived this week addressed to my wife from an unknown company with a sender’s address of PO Box 189, Huddersfield, HD8 1DY.
The letter currently remains unopened but some searching seems to suggest that this is Lowell Portfolio 1 Ltd and that they’re potentially used as a Solicitor for various PPCs.

Does anyone know anything about them please?
To clarify on the letter being unopened - my wife is away for 10 days, enjoying the peace and quiet 😀

Why not ask your wife's permission to open the letter.
Having said that, it's not a solicitor I am familiar with on this forum, despite having been here for many years.
I don't know if you might get an ear bashing for opening post that is not addressed to you, but it is not an offence as long as the information within is not used for your benefit or her detriment. However, I believe a quick 'phone call to your wife is the best option.I married my cousin. Most likely nothing to do with parking.
If you want to dig deeper, you are going to have to open the envelope then pop over to the Debt Free Wannabe board.3 -

Never heard of a PPC using Lowell Portfolio but they are notorious gutter-dwelling debt chasers.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Oh, well they will fit in well on this forum then.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks3 -
Thanks all. With letters like these (be it PPC or not), if they are from known (dis)reputable claimants, are you able to simply able to RTS it? Probably a daft question..0

That would be a silly thing to to if it's addressed to someone in your household. Never return stuff to sender and hope it will go away.

I doubt that this has anything to do with parking at all.
I've dealt with dozens of cases for clients who have had letters from Lowell Portfolio, and they have all related to old 'debts' from credit card providers, mobile phone contracts, banks, etc. In many of them, the original default was more than 6 years previously, and therefore the debt is statute barred under section 5 of the Limitation Act 1980.
In every case I've dealt with, Lowell have either discontinued their claim, or lost at a court hearing. Their paperwork is rubbish, as is their ability to provide proper evidence of the original contract, pursuant to section 77 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. In some cases, they can't even provide proper evidence of a Notice of Assignment having been issued, compliant with section 136 of the Law of Property Act 1925.
Lowell purchase these ancient accounts for pennies in the pound, and hope that people will be scared into paying up when they don't have to, a scam that mirrors the one that this board's regulars are familiar with.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.9
