Just completed. Leaky windows

Hello

A couple of weeks ago I completed on my new home. The 1970s home with a strong survey.

I noticed today that there were two patches on the windowsill where water has dropped through during all this rain. Not sure if it is from the windows or from above the window in the recess.

This was of course not mentioned to me at any point.

I assume this is now my problem alone?

Thanks

What did your surveyor say about the windows?
Did he do the survey on a day with this much rain?
Were there any marks to show there was water ingress?

As above, sorry but your problem.

Are you sure it's not just condensation?

Is there a blocked/overflowing gutter or leaky pipe behind?

Out of interest more than anything, was it raining when your surveyor visited?

You are not alone. We bought ours a month ago. We’ve just found our porch leaks, not even sure how, maybe the bottom of the wall. We keep finding puddles in there after it’s rained but the walls/ceiling look fine.

You've been in the house a few weeks and you didn't notice anything amiss. It's likely that the surveyor would have been in a similar position, unless there was obvious staining.
We have a porch window which allows some minor water ingress when the wind is in a particular direction. It's otherwise functioning fine, so we treat it as what it is: a minor problem, invisible most of the time.
