Advantis letter
We moved into our flat last November. There were two meters when we moved in, one active, the other not. We received our first bill from SSE and duly paid it. At the same time, we requested the inactive meter to be removed. We also changed our supplier to Octopus in December. SSE sent the final bill but based it on the inactive meter. If I pay this, I would be paying twice for the same energy, once to SSE and again to Octopus. SSE have made a mistake here and refuse to answer communication. SSE called eventually and advised that they would sort out the matter, making us feel a bit better. But we recently received a letter from Advantis demanding payment plus an admin fee for collection, so no more dealings with SSE advised.
I have referred the matter to the ombudsman but not sure what they will/can do. Do I have a leg to stand on?

Check the statement. Suppliers are allowed to charge you a daily standing charge for all meters irrespective of whether or not they are active.0
