O/S Daily Saturday 8 May 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Gers - thinking of you and your mum x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast and raining here at the moment - rain looks set in for the day.
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and a brekkie bar.
Yesterday again I got done what I wanted so can have a chilled weekend.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks. Thanks for starting us off nmlc, hope you enjoy your chilled weekend.Yesterday brought a couple of problems with one set of carers which soon got sorted. My trip to the dentist wasn't what I expected it to be. I thought I was having the first implant surgery but all that happened was that the surgeon wanted to make sure that a guide for the drilling he had constructed was correct. Such a disappointment for me as I was geared up for the surgery. Anyway, it meant I was back here much sooner than anticipated.DM had a quiet day, her friend came to sit with her which she always enjoys although she fell asleep soon after I got back. This morning I have to wait until the first carers have been before going shopping. Fitting things in between visits will be awkward but I'm just happy that the care is there.I hope that snoozer and Steve got away to Yorkshire. And I also hope that things are better for our poorlies.Happy Saturday to all.17

Morning all Well its wet and horrible here so don't think the dog will be in a rush to go out this morning I am off for my 2nd covid jab and then into Lidl for some shopping other than that i will be playing tetris with the stuff I have brought from home . We awaited the travel list with bated breath yesterday but Turkey is red I am not surprised as they are in a three week lockdown right now and the Maldives where DD2 is going for her postponed honeymoon is red I fear this will be like her wedding scenario never mind we will wait upon events it is a disappointment but not unexpected .
Gers thinking as always of you and your mum i hope you both had a restful night
Nels Hoping your hands are getting better we miss you x
Nanny Thinking of you and Mr Fix it
Marie If your reading along I hope your doing ok
Hugs to all those who are unwell ,worried or who are looking after poorlies . Have a good day all stay safe stay dry xxSlava Ukraini15 -
Morning All
It's very overcast this morning with rain due soon. Glad I tidied the garden and got the grass cut yesterday, it was a joy to be outside but a bit chilly. I put washing out about 5.30 and it was all but dry by 7, not sure I'll bother with any today. I've cleaned the bathrooms this morning - should have done it last night but wasn't going to waste the good weather, dusting to do some time today.
Must visit a few shops today, the fridge is bare and I need some more compost. I'll also go to the allotment, there are a couple of potatoes growing in one of the beds to be taken out - haven't grown them for a couple of years so no idea where they have come from! I think it's still too cold to put the courgettes and squash out so they can hang about here for a while.
What a disappointment Gers when you were all geared up for the surgery. Glad the care package is working out.
Thinking of the poorlies and those a bit fed up with life, look after yourselves.
Happy Saturday, take care. XX16 -
Good morning all
Dull and wet here today so I'll be making myself a second cup of tea and lounging about drinking it before I get going.
We had a lovely afternoon walk with friends yesterday. Walked from our house to one of the villages and back, which was about 5 miles. Ended up in their garden and started off by drinking tea then ended up on the wine and nibbles!
Today's weather has curtailed any outside activity so I'll just be popping out for a paper and then doing inside stuff, which will include watching some rugby. We have 2 lots of chicken curry defrosting in the fridge; both leftovers from a while ago, so that will be dinner tonight, along with some samosas.
Have a good Saturday everyone.15 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. What a nasty horrible day in store, and I think the same is forecast for most of us. It's dark, wet and miserable and looks more like November out there. Summer is a long time coming this year.
My usual Saturday early bus trip into town has been cancelled with rain stopping play. There is nothing at all I am fast for so I am staying put. I've just enjoyed my usual w/e breakfast of avocado, poached egg and mushrooms, followed by a slice of toast and marmalade and yet another coffee. Now fed and watered until lunchtime.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) as usual for all in need. GERS I hope you have an uneventful day, life can be so up and down when caring for an elderly parent. SNOOZER enjoy your time up here in God's Own Country, a shame we are not having better weather for you. BELLA sorry the green list has let you down but that's life at the moment isn't it, we can't plan ahead for anything these days. Take care one and all stay safe x

Oops, pressed post too soon.
Raining here and due to rain all day, I have lamb casserole on the stove and I plan a crafting day.

Morning, hugs if you need one. Pleased to hear you had a better day yesterday Gers, although !!!!!! your dental appointment was not as you had planned.
Its chucking it down in more than buckets full this morning. The gardener moved and planted plants and also put the feed and weed down on all the lawns, so the rain is welcome.
Heard from my neighbours son yesterday that she will not be coming home until they have put a care package in place. I had a word with the gardener and he will be only too glad to plant pots and keep them watered for her when she does get home. The plan is to put large pots of plants on the slabbed area outside the kitchen door, so she can sit out there in the sun, her garden gets the sun on the back in the afternoon the same as we do. She loves her plants but cannot water or take care of them.
I had a delivery this morning...72 plantlets we need to pot up, we will have to sort out plant pots. I am going to look for medium pots we can plant 3 plantlets in, I prefer to plant in groups of 3 rather than single plants.
Nothing planned for today. If the rain clears I may go out to the shed and start planting up pots, otherwise I will be hand sewing down more of the binding on 'that quilt'.
Supper tonight will be all day breakfast, will sort out something for dessert.

Morning all.
Damp and dismal here, but we desperately need the rain. The farmers are going spare. Quite dark here too. This meant that I didn't wake up until gone 8 o'clock, so a very leisurely start to the day. Even though I retired over 20 years ago Saturday still feels like a day off.
Gers, it will take a little while, but you will soon get used to the new routine of carers.
bella, so sorry the holiday plans have been scuppered, but better to be safe than sorry.
Camelot, I was thrilled to get all my washing dry yesterday as well. I couldn't believe how quickly it happened.
WL, I like your plans for the day. Mine will be similar.
TA, as far as I'm concerned summer can take its time. All my summer clothes are still in a vacuum bag under the spare room bed. I keep putting off the moment when I have to fight my way through the chaos to retrieve them.
Hester, enjoy your crafting.
Csarina, I have a small plant nursery on my kitchen windowsill. Some are flourishing, others are sullenly refusing to cooperate.
I have a small cooked gammon joint that I had hot yesterday and will have cold today with salad and a jacket potato. Love g ammon, it can be used so many different ways.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Good morning everyone
It's a damp and dismal day here today but I am happy that my sister from Wales is popping in on her way to visit my other sisters so I have been cleaning up and marshalling the troops for the Royal Visit 😊. She won't stay here long but it will be lovely to see her and her family.
I did something crazy yesterday and booked a 3 night break next year for me, Steve and the grandkids. I am veering between excitement and complete panic but I have just over a year to get my act together, lose weight and practice going out.
Right, I have to boss my family to push the hoover round and clean the loo. Be back later xx14
