Morrisons, 1st Time Click and Collect - Not happy :(
I've had a full year of Tesco deliveries, and never had a problem with substitutions. Not so with my first experience with Morrisons Click and Collect. I know the amount of aggrieved money is only £1.50, but this is a principle thing!
The Click and Collect shopping basket came to £106.20, and I authorised payment via my RBS CC. I noticed before I picked up the shopping, my RBS app showed a Morrisons amount of £106.20 pending. I picked up the shopping yesterday morning, and when I got home I discovered there were substitutions. Didn't think much about the substitutions, they were more or less what I wanted.
When I checked out the RBS app, the £106.29 has been pending all day.... I checked the app an hour or so ago, and discovered the amount has now changed to £107.70 and it's no longer pending.
It's a horrible feeling to have a company dibbing into my credit card account, changing what I'd authorised to pay. Think the substitutions were for an offer of 3 tins of Heinz baked beans for £1. That offer had sold out, and the pack of three tins of beans replaced with individual tins of beans.
Am I being unreasonable and petty about this?

It's allowed under their T&C's which by placing an order you would have agreed to, but given places like Asda and Tesco price match substitutes no I don't think you are being petty.1

Its fine and allowed and in the t&c's.You either give back the subs for a refund or accept them and the price.Sainsburys, Ocado, Waitrose and Morrisons charge you whatever the price of the subs are whereas Asda & Tesco price match them. Its no different than authorising your card and then buying a weighed item so the final amount can change.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Thanks @KxMx and @sarah1972 for replying. Knew that their policy would be woven into T&Cs. Can't help thinking it's rather short sighted of them. Think I'll be sticking to Tesco or Asda in future.
Because I'm on a frugal kick for the next few months, I did a price comparison of a dozen or so regular items (as best I could) between the shops. Morrisons didn't far so well. It was their fishmonger department that tipped my decision. Morrisons had their chance.....

Did the member of staff point the substitutions out to you? They always do to me, and you then have a choice. All supermarket c&c works the same, the bill isn't final until you have collected & accepted.0

If I'm going to use them in a couple of days, I'd leave them in the tin with a plastic cap on. If for longer, I'd put in a plastic container. You can even freeze beans.I freeze mushy peas as the OH doesn't like them and I can't eat a full 300g tin.0 -

I know it's slightly off topic, but I didn't realise that instant coffee is more expensive that buying beans. A kilo of beans is circa £6 in Lidl and makes 140 cups. A 200g jar of coffee makes 100 cups on average. I haven't used instant coffee in 35 years, but always thought of using real coffee as a luxury because it was a no compromise no matter how poor we get thing.0

Allinson's Very Strong Bread Flour is the highest protein content I can find at 14%. I make my own sourdough bread, 1.5 kg bag lasts me about 2 weeks (3-4 days between bakes). https://www.allinsonflour.co.uk/products/very-strong-white BTW I'm in competition with my brother on who can make the most spectacular sourdough loaf!
I did by Morrisons strong bread flour £1 for 1.5kg, that will get used on pizza bases and Yorkshire pud batter.
Tesco do a VERY strong bread flour, theirs is £1.45 for a one kg bag so it's the same price really, the protein is a little less at 13.6%, nothing in it.
