Any advice on best pet insurance to take out for older dog? Or is it not worth it?

By not worth it I mean as in costs too high so should just save instead.0

Think I know what you mean. Our dog had a gastric problem, possibly from having parvo as a puppy; after claiming for 'investigations' (under £400) which appeared to confirm the vet's conclusion that he has IBS, our insurance company wrote to say that in future the gastric track won't be covered
. We changed insurance. We also joined Pet Health Club for £16.60 a month, that gives us 20% off the expensive HA food our dog needs, free claw clipping, and worm and flea treatment - we find that's worth it. As for the monthly insurance costs of £25.45 with £80 excess; it's peace of mind in case he breaks a leg, or causes a car accident or something. Should he have another health issue (which is a high possibility at over 8 years of age), I'm pretty sure the insurance company will write again saying we won't be covered for that specific problem.
We lived in Spain for about 14 years where the vets weren't 'insurance driven'. We didn't have pet insurance there, vet charges were much cheaper and manageable. Returning to the UK it's noticeable that vet charges looks to be in a self perpetuating spiral, vet's wondering how much an insurance company will cover, and insurance companies wondering how much people will pay for pet insurance - sorry for the cynicism.
