Help with Homeshift
Options
Hi all,
I have recently moved into a new rental property on 30/04/21 and have been trying to create accounts with all the necessary suppliers.
My estate agent gave me a welcome pack which said that my electricity was supplied by Green Energy UK, however when I called them to inform them of my tenancy, they said the supplier was switched to 'Colorado Energy' in Nov 2019.
Turns out Colorado Energy is actually Homeshift, who I absolutely do not want as they have terrible customer service and poor rates.
When I phoned Homeshift they said I needed to put my name on the account before I would be able to switch to another supplier, is this correct? The lady insisted I send her some personal details and tried to urge me to set up a direct debit (which I have not done). She then said she would email my estate agent to confirm my tenancy and get back to me with a 'temporary account number'. I have since spoken with my estate agent who says she's already replied to Homeshift letting them know who is currently in the property, but the homeshift lady lied and said she hasn't received anything.
I am now wary of what Homeshift are telling me and don't want to blindly follow their instructions but I haven't rented in quite a long time so I'm not too savvy.
Can I not just choose a supplier on my own, set up an account with them and have THEM contact homeshift to make the shift for my address, account number or not?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Did you give outgoing meter reads to the supplier at the old address ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Ok thanks MWT
Sorry Robin what do you mean by old address? There is only my new address to take into account, and I have given Homeshift the meter reading I took on the day I moved in.0 -
