Smart Meter help!

Hi all
I've moved into a new build property & have solar panels. Apparently I need to have a smart meter installed to get my FIT? My energy supplier has been ringing the property developer every week regarding getting smart meters fitted to the houses but when I get in touch with them they say they aren't fitting them in my area? What should I do? I'm missing out on my free eletricity until I can get one fitted!
Thanks in advance!

If it's a new build then yes, there is no FIT just the SEG - Smart Export Guarantee. That needs metered export and the easiest way to do that is with a smart meter. You are still getting free electricity if you use it, just no payment for the power you generate but don't immediately use.N. JulesSadly, you can no longer claim FIT payments for PV solar. The scheme was discontinued for new arrays sometime ago. You can however claim Special Export Guarantee payments for the electricity that you export to the Grid. One of the highest SEG rates at the moment is the Agile Fixed tariff with Octopus Energy at 5.5p/kWh. To claim SEG payments you do need a smart meter. Once installed, your chosen supplier will need to apply to your local DNO for an export MPAN for the meter. If you decide to use Octopus they will need to see your MCS Certificate and confirmation that your DNO is aware of the installation.

PS. If your present supplier will not fit a smart meter then just switch.0
