HSBC Scam???

Yes Sandtree. The company name, address and my name was correct on the letter and the card. But I found out that the DOB is wrong. HSBC is also surprised about this and they forwarded my case to the fraud team and have started an investigation. Quite scary to be frank as it’s the first time for me and don’t know what else do I need to do or check to ensure that the fraudster doesn’t do anymore damage.Sandtree said:Unusual to think that the letter itself is a fake rather than to think its genuinely from HSBC but is a fraudster applying for an account using your address.
Given these are for a business account what is the name on the letter? Is it addressed to you or someone else? Any business name in the address at all?0 -
Checking your credit file fairly often for the next few months seems a sensible option to ensure that there's been no attempt to open anything else1
