Mobile cold calls

Aaarrgghhh. I guard my mobile number almost as carefully as my credit card pins. Because it is given only to close friends and family I will always make an effort to answer even if I am busy.
I have had two calls this morning from telecom companies trying to poach me from O2....Don't know who they were, I had hung up before the first sentance finished coming out of the callers mouth.
I am VERY not pleased. O2 were blocked from outset from using it to contact me and it is registered with TPS so there is no way these pests should have been able to get it and how do they know that my contract is due for renewal anyway?
OK I feel better now

I got a phone and contact (all paid by the OH) for xmas and from the begining of this year I strating getting 3 phoning me and asking if I wanted insurance, which I dont. Now I get at least 2 calls a week asking the same thing (grrrr). I really dislike the mobile compacys using my detailes like that.I remember when this was just a little website! :money:0

Not just mobiles. We have registered our home phone and address with TPS and MPS and still we get harrassment (at least 2-5 cold calls a day half of which sound like they come from an outsourced location in India, and my partner has today just receive lottery junk mail from Australia and several 'guaranteed win cheques'). We've been really careful recently to check/uncheck contact boxes in any application forms we've submitted. I use to be really pleasant to cold callers cause I know they are doing their job but now it's just 'not interested', soon I will just slam the phone down.0

If you try to go along with them for a second or two , try to find out the company name, then find where they are based, ask for a contact phone number & name & what address are you based at?
I need to know because I am not about to take out a contract with some company I know nothing about.....
When you have these details Ask them where they got your details from and why they feel they can contact you for marketing purposes, then tell them you will report them for breaking the communications act 2003 by filling out this form "complaints about telesales"

Silent calls are not illegal, until they become a nuisance, (it is left open as to what levels of calls are needed b4 they are "a nuisance"0 -
Thanks for the link Wig. I am sure I was not chosen at random as I was addressed correctly by name .... ( which was a dead giveaway. Anyone who has that number would not be addressing me formally).0

I used to get loads of calls from "O2 customer care" and when I answered no one would be there, or I'd get heavy breathing!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
