Or wait for the fire sale (M&S may go bust very soon).
But either way M&S is not what it was....my late mum said so, & she lived out of their Poole Dorset store. When she died I knew M&S wouldn't survive another 5 yrs. It's been just over 2 yrs & the UK economy is about to hit the YKW. What more can i say?
What is happening to me? - I haven't touched a drop & I'm typing drivel already..or is that
M&S going bust! You are having a laugh. They are one of the best performing retailers at the moment and are going from strength to strengh.
Are you sure you have not touched a drop ? :beer:0 -
I would keep your vouchers. They sometimes do two for one on their pub meals. The pies are lovely but at £5.99 each not worth it. I bet they have a nice sale in January.0

I have now!
It's at times like this I know I was right in never taking any notice of what my mum said :rotfl:0 -
Check out their home department-some of their china is pretty good value and a lot of it is on a "three for two" offer at the moment.
They sometimes have ready meals on a "Try me for half price offer" so it's worth looking out for that.
Last time I was in they had basic V necked jumpers reduced from £12 to £ 9.50-they wash well. Also they do mens brollies for a fiver and the stuff in their Christmas shop is also on a "buy three get the cheapest one free offer"0 -

I can only echo the feeling: don't bother wasting your vouchers on M&S food - unless you want to have a fab treat, that is. Day to day food is much cheaper in other supermarkets and regular local shops.
Do you know if there is a M&S outlet near you? I know of one in Woolwich, London SE18, where all goods are reduced and they even have an extra-reduced section at the back. I am sure that there will be very rich pickings to be had in the January sales there.
Of course M&S underwear is unbeatable in my opinion so it might be worth stocking up on knickers and socks for the family (at the outlet they discount them too!).
Happy Christmas
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Well, I know it's a terrible luxury but I do so love their food... I rarely buy it BUT when I do I always go for: rocky road squares (not the ones in the tub though) - they are so good they should be illegal; arbroath smokies (kippers) - they do make the house a bit smelly; and, of course, Percy Pigs ! (for my son and erm....me!)
Would be wise to spend them in the sales though...but if you felt like a pre-xmas treat....0 -
I hate M and S, both their food and their clothes, and last Christmas was given two hideous pieces of clothing which I took back first thing in January and was given credit notes for £85 for. I had the credit notes all year, as I never shop there, and they had a one year expiry date. I went in last week, and managed to buy Christmas presents for 2 family members who do like the store, plus two presents for each of the kids teachers, plus 3 big boxes of Belgian chocs, and it didn't cost me a penny! Part of this was because they were doing 3 for 2 deals on some of the stuff, but being able to do a third of my Christmas shopping for free cheered me up no end, and will leave extra money in the budget for me to treat myself in a store I do like. If you haven't finished the Christmas shopping, might this be an idea?0

I very rarely buy anything from M & S and was surprised the last time I went in that they now do a 'basic' range in the home department. I bought a set of three stainless steel pans for £9.50. Like others have said though, I'd be inclined to wait for the sales unless you've got presents to buy and could use your vouchers for them.0

OOh! Now that is interesting. I will def need saucepans soon, so will be on the lookout for them - thanks. I had no idea they did any kind of 'value' range. Off to look online to see what else they might do.......0 -
I see you have children so I would suggest school uniform. I always buy my DS trousers from M&S as he is so skinny and the have adjustable waists, are very well made and last the year despite his rough treatment.
I would also second looking out for the sales and underwear.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:
