£500 one-off tax credits payment

If you got help to save then I can't see why you wouldn't get this payment. The article I linked to says the overpayment recovery shouldn't affect it, and although i wasn't sure as I just posted above having looked at the treasury direction for the payment i'm inclined to agree.Whiterose23 said:On my account on HMRC it just states ‘Tax Credit Summary’ and lists the people on my claim (myself and my son), then options to change personal details.
Also a message stating that my renewal pack hasn’t been sent out yet, but nothing else.
I used to be able to see previous payments and upcoming ones but I presume that as I’m not getting anything at the moment due to the overpayment, there is nothing showing on the account now. I also have an active Help To Save account, which is only open to people who qualify for tax credits.0 -
Thanks icequeen - as the process must have been automated I wonder if the software overlooked awards not actually in payment.Icequeen1 said:
The article i linked to suggests that wouldn't be a bar to getting the payment. I wasn't sure so i've just had a look at the Treasury Direction and i'm inclined to agree. Even if there is overpayment recovery, there would still be an underlying award in place.calcotti said:Although arguably unfair, I think the issue is more likely to be that nothing was in payment on 2nd March due to the deduction for past overpayment. Just guesswork on my part though.
The Help to Save account isn't a useful indicator. As I understand it, you only have to meet the eligibility conditions in order to open an account. Once open you can maintain the account even if you would no longer be eligible to open one.

Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1 -
yes that's a fair point re help to save, i assumed the OP was in the same position as when they claimed help to save. I guess the only possibilites are that WTC has been removed from the award or as you say HMRC have made a mistakecalcotti said:
